yellowfin
Yes I get it that it's cheaper and faster than wood. But it SUCKS. No sound proofing, fragile, and absolutely hell to mount anything with any kind of weight on it. My wife and I just lost some hours having anchors rip out and all kinds of hellacious scatches all over from trying to install a simple bathroom cabinet. Screw it onto the stud? Sure if that actually matched where it needed to be. Maybe i need to modify it to fit but my carpentry skills are less than great-- which of course is another sore subject. But in any event this whole house is covered on that cheap chalky crap. Edited August 19, 2018 by yellowfin
GrumpyOne
I had written an answer to your problems, but this being the hate forum, discussions are not allowed. Drywall can be a pain, if you do not use the correct anchors.

Dranoel
Screw a piece of 1/4" ply or wood paneling to a stud with a few screws put a few more at the edges and then screw your cabinet to the ply.
Miranda
I hate drywall. use beadboard or lumber or plywood. you have to get to the studs and add something to hang cabinets if you want them to stay up. I'll make it look good next week, dear.... miranda
Flatland Shooter
I hate that I have to cut out some of the drywall that will be behind the cabinet just to place horizontal 2x4 braces. Lot of extra work and looks like crap but at least it works. (In compliance?)
PhilTerry
Not a discussion - but these things work like charm on drywall. I bring some back whenever I am in France. https://www.amazon.fr/Molly-M18106-XJ-Chevilles-métalliques-expansion/dp/B017IJOKO2?SubscriptionId=AKIAJVJYRC2OTIL7IAUQ&tag=reg2018-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B017IJOKO2

No need to go to EU to buy drywall anchors.
Timmeh
Ditto on that, and trying to get two sheets lined up on one stud? You got the dust, not like sawdust that is actual pieces, but just absolute dust. That said, it's lighter than wood, evolution of society and blah blah blah
