Rimfire for Super Steel?

Can rimfire weapons be used in Super Steel Challenge? I've enjoyed several Steel Challenge matches with my Mark IV Lite, and want to move to next level with it and my 10/22. Will they knock down the plates/targets?  (Using CCI Minimag)

Thanks!

We don’t use weapons in Steel Challenge, we use firearms. There are four rimfire classes in Steel Challenge, so leave the swords, spears and other weapons and home, and bring your rimfire firearms to a Steel Challenge match.

By the way, the gun community is trying very hard to shed the stigma of firearms having a negative connotation, so we all need to avoid referring to them as weapons and instead refer to them as the tools they are.

I don't believe that "super steel" is anything recognized by uspsa. Sounds like you may be talking about a falling steel match, as steel challenge targets are stationary and fixed. It will be up to the match director what calibers are allowed, but most in this neck of the woods require 9mm minimum.

Steel challenge and action steel are two different animals.  Rimfire is very popular in Steel challenge.  Action steel is USPSA with steel instead of paper.  In Action steel and steel challenge, all you have to do is ding the plate.

As far as USPSA, Rimfire is not allowed.

5.1.2
The minimum cartridge case dimension for handguns to be used in
USPSA matches is 9x19 mm. The minimum bullet diameter is 9 mm
(.354 inches).

I have seen matches with falling steel that do have a rimfire division and in most cases the steel does NOT have to fall for rimfire... usually new paint to help with scoring …. so it would depend  on your local match I guess.... also rimfire is usually from low ready so no holsters or drawing is required.  Some matches see this as a way to get new shooters interested and started with minimal investment.

Thank you, -that was the feedback I was looking for. I know. 22s don't have knock- down power, but it is a fun and economical round.
