Rosswoodford
Not sure what I have going on here. 8k (ish) through the barrel, mostly 115gr FMJ from various manufacturers: Full size 9mm p320. I’m no gun smith, and nylon/wire bore brushes have not changed anything. Any info/insight is appreciated. Thanks Ross
Spencerb1911
Put it in some hoppes #9 bore cleaner for about a day then wire brush it with hoppes until it’s gone. Then you might want to clean your barrel every couple hundred rounds so it does not get that bad.
JAFO
Wow, that looks like you shot a bunch of hot-loaded lead bullets. Spencer has a good idea to give it a good soak in a jar of Hoppe's first. You might also try some of the Double-Tuff bore brushes from Brownell's ( https://www.brownells.com/gun-cleaning-chemicals/brushes-amp-bore-snakes/bore-brushes/double-tuff-bore-brush-prod1244.aspx ). They are stiffer than normal bore brushes and may help get it out faster. If that still doesn't do it, you could try a Lewis Lead Remover ( https://www.brownells.com/gun-cleaning-chemicals/patches-mops/lead-remover/lewis-lead-remover-prod21587.aspx ). Yeah, I'm not sure what happened here to be honest. I usually run a nylon bore brush every 500 rounds or so, bought some inexpensive coated stuff and just started running into this. Never seen it this bad. Thanks for the info!
JAFO
I run coated bullets (Ibejihead and Blue Bullets) with Titegroup in my Allround and PCC without a problem, but when I tried Precision (not Precision Delta, mind you), they left a TON of lead in the barrel using Titergoup. I had to switch to Universal Clays to use those up without smearing lead.
laz2011
For that I use Pro-Shot Lead-Clean Gun Cloth and a Brass Jag .The cloth comes 8.75" x 11.25" - 98.4 Square Inches You cut the size of patch u need . This will take some elbow grease and time but it works . Combine it with a bore brush and solvent to brush and clean away lose material . Good Luck. JsK
Lewis lead remover or take a copper chore boy scrub pad and pull out strips to wrap into your bore brush. Either way its lead and its gonna take some elbow grease to get it out. Whatever coated bullets your using something in that load needs to change or its just gonna keep doing it. DCSigCZ
Butch's Bore Shine is pretty aggressive. That combined with a brass bore brush cleared a barrel for me the one time it leaded up. One caveat - Butch's has ammonia in it, so do not use it in a chrome lined barrel; the good news is that most pistol barrels are not. Ask your pistol manufacturer. Some chrome lined barrels also have a slight, dull silver ring around the edge of the barrel muzzle.
