chevrofreak
I have tons of power pistol as it is one of my favorite 9 minor powders, but I decided to try it for 9major. I haven't actually made it to major yet, but, 8.0gr under a 115gr PD JHP at 1.150" made 157pf and had a very curious recoil impulse. The dot went DOWN on recoil, making a circle and coming right back to where it was! I have never seen that before! The muzzle flash was also quite insane, as was the blast. Recoil was nonexistent as seen in this video, and with a 9lb Wolff variable spring shooting strong hand only it did not always cycle completely. I saw absolutely no pressure signs on the primers, and, extrapolating my data of 1300fps from a 7.5gr load and 1370 fps from a 8.0gr load it looks like I may need up to 8.7gr to make a good 170pf load with a 115, or leave it at 8.0gr and go to a 124gr bullet to achieve the same power level. Am I wasting my time trying to make major with this rarely used powder?
Hi-Power Jack
If I had "tons" of it lying around, I'd be seriously tempted to give it a shot. And, your results, to date, seem fairly positive - don't see much down side to it, so far. Let's see what the experts think

I have 3 of them; two are on AR9 PCC's and this one. I had been working with another company to make a mount for it, but after I took some size comparison photos they did not believe it to be a feasible task. A local open GM was at a match with JJ Racaza and saw that he was running a 510C on his new pistol and he told me about it. It took me several days of googling, but I found the company that makes the mount. TEvo Sports is a brand new company, and right now the mount is their only product. Tiger Nguyen has been great to work with and he makes a great product, and, as an open shooter himself, knows what needs to go into the design. orangeman711
Tiger is a good man. He won't lead you astray.Everyone I've talked to that use the Halosun and his mount are very, very happy with the combination.

My other buddy just ordered there double side mount. The 2.5 dot would take some getting use to. But that ring would help.

It runs great in all of my standard pistols and in my PCC's. Power Pistol is the powder that convinced me that what I have been reading about "no matter what powder you use in 9mm it us completely burned in 10"" is incorrect, as I see flames in the muzzle brakes on the 16" PCC's. I see about 1300fps from a 16" barrel with this load, and around 1150 from most of the pistols.

jcc7x7
Local master used PP for about 3 months when powder was hard to get a few years ago. He liked the way the gun handled with it. Blast and noise wasn't a problem as it was all outdoors at the time. No stats for the load but he worked it up the ladder until he made PF and the dot stabilized
chevrofreak
My results from tonight. I saw some pressure signs with the 8.8gr 115gr load, but nowhere near what I see with 9.0gr of HS6. The 124gr load showed no signs at all. I think 8.1 or 8.2gr of PP with a 124gr bullet would be a solid performer that is safe, not terribly harsh to shoot, though insanely concussive. chevrofreak
I bumped the load to 8.2gr and switched to a RMR hardcore match 124gr heavy plated bullet at a 1.180" OAL and once fired mixed brass. I like the way this shoots, and still no pressure signs. chevrofreak
The only problem that I have had with either of my chronos is with these power pistol loads. I used to shoot at 3ft but the muzzle flash or ejecta of the power pistol caused the chrono to read stupidly low, like 600fps and lower. I had to increase to 5ft+ to get normal readings. I did 10ft today.
HotrodMachinegun
Its been my go to powder for .40 open and once I've used up all of my hs6 its going to be my 9 major powder as well. Very flashy, very loud, works the comp great and burns clean.
