Are there any after market comps for the 929?

What are guys using on their open 929's?  Not replacing the barrel, etc. but is there another comp for the 929 besides the little one that comes with it?  Is magnaporting a better option?  Just curious as to what is out there.

Thanks,

I stuck with the factory comp. Not sure if anyone one is making an aftermarket Comp yet. I also went with a CMore RTS2 (6 MOA dot). Playing with a DeltaPoint Pro (2.5 MOA dot. I think I like the bigger dot better.

Good luck out there!9934edbfc293293d71ab83a9d1be7977.jpg

As far as I know, there are no compensators available for the factory barrel 929. The factory ported cap is not a comp.

I did a barrel swap after talking to several popular comp manufactures, and I went with a threaded barrel. Now I have unlimited options, and they're easy to replace.

Edit: I did not contact Dave.

Which barrel did you go with?  Where did you get it from?

I bought a blank. Cut frame threads and forcing cone, then 1/2x28 on the other end and experimented with whatever comps I could get my hands on.

I settled on a 6.5" fluted barrel, and aluminum Allchin .22 comp drilled out for 9mm. Light comp, throws tons of gas, easy to clean and easy to replace. The gun has the same barrel length and weight as a factory barrel, since that's what my practice and backup guns are.

Out of curiosity, how much did all this cost?

A stainless blank from douglas is 3-400 depending on how you want it finished. I have access to the a lathe.

I'm fortunate enough to have access to a remarkably excellent retired PPC builder, so I've had a little help when it comes to building barrels.

The diamond fluting was done by a shop in Idaho, I'd seen his work and I mailed him the blank and just kind of let him run wild with it. I think that was 100-125?

Well the barrel and comp came out great! It's nice to know talented folks. My gunsmith has been incredibly helpful explaining all the inner workings of my S&W revolvers. Learning slowly, but surely.
