Magna-port effective on .300bl or .223?

Hi!  I'm doing a California compliant build and looking at magnaport as an alternative to threaded brakes. I’ve seen positive comments online but they tend to be from users of magnum bolt-actions that generate a lot of gas.  I’m wondering if anybody has experience with magna-port modded rifles shooting .300 blackout or .223 / 5.56 which don’t generate as much gas as a magnum to work the ports.  The gun I’m planning is a blackout but info on.223 is appreciated.  I don’t care about recoil reduction, only muzzle flip to help me see bullet impact and aid with follow up shots.  Basically, i’m willing to make the investment if it does something, but I’m nervous about being the guinnea pig who tells everyone 6 months down the line that the muzzle still flips the same as a non-modded barrel. Also, if anybody knows of a competitor to Magna Port who does a similar cuts, I’d be interested in that info as well.  Thanks, J

For the cost of doing it, cheaper to just get a muzzle brake. I did not like the increased noise from magna port brake.

Muzzle brakes are a problem in Kalifornia. We can’t do anything that coulb be considered a flash suppressor and I don’t know how I would prove that anything is NOT a flash suppressor.  I’m weighing that  option but need to find something that is on the record as “not” a suppressor.  Manufacturers like  to prove what they are, not what what they aren’t.

I learned today that the definition for a flash suppressor is supposedly if the muzzle hole in the device is more than two times the width of the bullet.  Doesn’t make sense but welcome ro California lawmaking.  I’d like to see this in writing but it’s what I’m told by a reputable source.
