B_RAD
Assuming it done properly, is there any reason not to do it?
Beef15
I debated it and went with No. My support hand has pretty much every bit of the left side of the frame covered and is just barely off the slide stop/possibly on it but not interfering. Higher even 1/16th inch seems more likely to cause issues than help. I know at least one guy that says a double undercut was huge and good change for him though. Interested to hear other opinions. ETA: Disregard. I'm also terribly unobservant today and didn't notice the forum this was posted in. IsaacB
I have tried both and decided not to undercut mine on my 2011. The ones I held put the little bump at the front of the trigger guard right on my weakhand index finger. Depending on your hand size/ grip it may not matter for you. I also felt like the undercut didn't holster/ unholster as smoothly as the untouched grips. If you cut too close to the back of the trigger guard it can make it rock more in race holsters. It's possible that none of the above apply to you, your gun, or your holster. Just my observations. Just like everything else, best to try both and see what you like. ltdmstr
I had a double undercut on my SV limited gun and my support hand was moving around when I was shooting because there was too much room between the trigger guard and the magwell. So I swapped it out for a single undercut and now my support hand is stable and much more secure.
HI5-O
I used to have my plastic grips with the double undercut and worked well for me. Then I went to the new Guga Ribas holster and found the double undercut had taken away too much meat from the bottom of the trigger guard to let the gun have a solid footing in the holster. I was ordering new grips anyway and just got the grips with a single undercut. Gun sits solid in the holster and I really can’t tell the difference. Just got used to it and it works for me. BigGabe
I bought a 2011 with a double undercut trigger guard someone had done. It was undercut so much that it would let the grip flex too much under recoil. I ended up replacing it.
mciver52
I did a slight undercut up front on one of my Eagles and it works well with me. Basically just rounded off the sharp edge of the guard
427Cobra
Yes yes yes, I put a DVC grip on my Marauder, IMHO much more comfortable
troupe
Personal preference. I have been doing grips for many, many years and it is all in what the shooters mind thinks is helpful. No facts to say one is better than the other.
Boot
How about just a single?
CrashDodson
I have large hands and run double undercut on mine.
Wisemenofgotham
I appreciate the double undercut if done correctly, but wouldn’t say it’s a must. Edited June 17, 2018 by Wisemenofgotham
Bkreutz
I prefer the double undercut, but as has been said, it's different for everyone. I actually took a bit more off where the the rear undercut blends into the grip. (It was raising a callus)
