NMJim
Just purchased a new Winchester 1866 Deluxe (Miroku) chambered for 38 Special only. Any suggestions on how to Break-In the barrel with Load Data and Bullet Selection? Any comments & suggestions would be Welcome and Appreciated! Postal Bob
Just shoot standard velocity loads of about 158 gr. Do not load any higher pressure rounds like +P loads. The toggle link action lock up is not a solid strong lock up. Therefore any loads above standard pressure could damage the action, or cause it to blow open when fired. In my early Winchester rifles chambered in 38-40, and 44-40, I like to use titegroup powder, as it's very good when used in small quantities in larger capacity cartridges. Offhand, I don't know if titegroup is good for 38 special, but it probably is.
