Main spring compressed length?

Rated spring # should be: 1.625” for Gov't length & 1.125” for Commander length

Thank You but it sounds like you might be thinking recoil spring length. Looking for main spring or hammer spring spec.

Kuhnhausen volume 2, page 166 has:

Mainspring (hammer spring) specifications:

Coil O.D. .273

Free length 2.156

Load at compressed length of 1.062  (this is what you are looking for?)

Solid length .968

The rating given to the mainspring is the amount of force required to compress it to a length of 1.312". It will take 23# of force to compress a mainspring rated as being 23# to that length.

 

1.062" is the minimum compressed length (maximum compression). A 23# rated mainspring will require about 29 lbs of force to compress it to that length.
