Cold Hands

I'll echo some of the above comments. You may need to generate some heat. The electric vest is great! I have 2 batteries that will last all day on the highest setting. I also use hand and toe warmers, wool socks, etc.

The Gerbing Gyde Torrid Heated soft vest with the heated collar is on sale (link) at $149 (regular $199) so the lower price covers most of the additional battery cost ($49).

Just ordered one with a second battery.  It gets friggin' cold in Michigan.  Some of the indoor ranges are not heated in the winter.

Thanks for spending my money for me Bill. 🤣🤣

I have the Milwaukee heated jacket for work (heavy equipment, crane mechanic in MI) and while it's great for that I wouldn't like it for shooting matches. Too bulky.

I take mine off BUT the hand warmers are what I really appreciate.  Interesting review of different jackets.

Hello gents and ladies,

Just wanted to share an experience. First off, once my hands get cold I am pretty much going to have a crap match. Even if I bring hand warmers. I have tried to overcome this barrier but I just can’t shoot at speed with acceptable accuracy and to top it off, I end up making ooor decisions because it messes with my mental game. I am a b class shooter in production looking to make it up to A. Anyfind cold hands to be a problem?

cold hands are the worst!  Takes till the afternoon to actually be able to manipulate the gun effectively.

Do your hands turn colors when cold ,look pale ,almost dead? Could be Rynons syndrome ( im sure thats spelled wrong).  I have had it as long as I could remember.  Sometimes hit as warm as 50 degrees .Got much worse when I went on blood  pressure  medication.  Mentioned it to dr. Changed medication to one that opens up capillaries. Made a huge difference.  Have mentioned to other people who's drs. Have given them prescription for use before cold weather matches.

Hand warmer in the Magwell cures that.

Unfortunately that violates 5.2.2 😞 I put a warmer on each side of the grip and velcro it in place.

5.2.2
Competitors carrying their handgun in a holster must have an empty magazine well, and the hammer or striker must be decocked. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be immediately escorted by a Range Officer to a suitable range or safety area where appropriate corrective action shall be made.

Emphasis mine.

That is definitely a stretch. I have been to several majors and on cold mornings nearly everybody who new better had hand warmers in their Magwell. The rule was clearly written to mean no mag in gun.

Plus it's hilarious to watch them forget to remove the hand warmer and cram a magazine in at "Load and Make Ready"!

Don't ask me how I know how funny it is to the peanut gallery!

I don't disagree, but there are people out there interpreting it that way 😞

I hate cold hands for shooting but fortunately I only deal with that occasionally due to the climate where I live.  Sometimes I've had the opposite problem when the temperature here is 115+.  An all-steel gun can get too hot to comfortably hold.  It's not enough to actually burn my hands, but there's pain and pain is a distraction.  At the least the fingers work well, unlike when they're cold.
