jwilkinson6
What magwells are you guys using for your M&Ps? I've seen a couple that are aluminum, but are there any brass ones out there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

eisenhow
I have a Speed Shooters Specialties L10 brass magwell. If they every do another run of the brass L10 or Limited magwell I'd buy one for my backup gun.

ddh
I ended up getting a Carver Custom. It is specific for the 2.0 models, and it is aluminum. I like the fact I can still run stock , or aftermarket base plates.
SometimesishootCs
I’ve been looking at the carver custom magwell. I’m curious as to how it works with stock base pads.
ddh
It is milled out inside, allowing the stock base pads to fit.
SometimesishootCs
Lol. I guess I asked for that. I meant since most mag wells sit below the bottom of the frame I was curious how seating a mag with a factory base pad would be. I might just be thinking about it to much. I would like to know your thoughts after you get it installed.
ddh
You are correct, the magwell sits below the frame, so you have to push the stock base plate up in there. I use my thumb. It's just nice to not have to remove the magwell if you want to use a stock mag. I am using the arredondo mag extensions, which give +4 in .40, but I don't have them on all my mags. gsc0tt
I have SSS large brass and small brass (i think they called it L10) I use the large brass when I have brass weights inside a TLR1 upfront, and use the small brass when I have a TLR1 with actual batteries in it

The front didn't hook into the grip so there was a lot of play. Took some filing to knock off enough of the grip plug to clear mags. Inside isn't very funnel like, but that seemed to be a by product of allowing factory basepads to work.
fxdc
Anyone know if the SJC brass works with TF mag extensions? Does the magwell have to be reworked or the TF extensions have to be modified?
WarrenZ
Works good for me I have the TF brass ones.
fxdc
Warrenz So I have this right.... The SJC BRASS M&P magwell will take the TF mag extensions. I have the 5 and 10 extendtions for my open gen 1 Core. STEVE at sjc couldn't answer the question... which I thought was odd. It has an SSS aluminum one on it now. Thanks
fxdc
Ok So I received and replaced my SSS aluminum magwell with a SJC Heavy Black Brass magwell. Gonna have to lift some weights because this thing is a lot heavier!!! So Steve at SJC couldn't tell me the weight of it.... so I weigh the two of them so ya'll could see. I like the shelf around the bottom it helps lock my off hand when I grip the gun. Now I can install my tungsten guide rod and test and see if all this weight makes difference. Also all my TF mag extensions work perfect!!!!!! I will give you an update after I shoot it. Edited May 31, 2018 by fxdc

StealthyBlagga
Doe anyone know which currently-available magwells will accept Taran Tactical 140mm mag extensions (other than the Carver)? I have some of the older SSS models that are great, but the current design needs a lot of material removed - I have done this modification in the past but prefer not to have to do so again. Bkreutz
I have both the ESP and Limited magwells (both SSS) they are about 3-4 years old. They both work with TT 140's without any material removal. I'm actually going to be putting them in the classifieds when I get around to it, probably this week sometime. My wife is using an M&P in Carry Optics so no magwells allowed.
