Shootingbeaver
Does anyone know if the tristar p-120 or t120 make weight for idpa? Can’t be to far off of a cz sp01 weight right? Also is saving the money worth it or should I just get an sp01?
Gundad73
Tri-star p120 does not make weight. Too heavy
Gundad73
I had a buddy suggest that I buy a Shadow 1. should have listened to him. According to him the Shadow 1 qualifies for both IDPA and USPSA
Shootingbeaver
Yeah I’ve heard that they don’t make weight even though it says they only weigh 30oz. So if it did make weight do you think you made the right decision?
Gundad73
No. The modifications took a lot of work because they don’t exactly fit the SP-01 like you would think. Should have at least bought an SP-
Shootingbeaver
Good to know. I guess it would still be a nice uspsa pistol. What’s the difference between the p and the t? Which one do you have?
Shootingbeaver
My biggest complaint about idpa is the gun weights. I have a tanfoglio match that doesn’t make it and a ati thunderbolt I bought for cdp which weights 45oz.
Gundad73
I think the t is a polymer. The p are steel.
Gundad73
That sucks about the your gun weights. Yes. I don’t understand why IDPA would be so restrictive in weight
Shootingbeaver
Agreed. I think bill is trying to limit the 1911 competition. The last gun I wanted I couldn’t find in person so I had to call a dealer to get it weighed. Luckily he was nice enough to give me the exact weight. Gundad73
Why do you think he would want to limit the 1911 platform?
Shootingbeaver
He owns Wilson Combat. Everyone says he changes rules to knock other guns out at the same time he release a new $3,000 gun that would be legal.
Gundad73
Wow man! No wonder it seems like IDPA gets a bad wrap. Is there an election process for Head of IDPA?

Threw that out when Wilson started making pcc's. Right now I think what is keeping the weight limits (and recent changes to ccp size) is sponsorship funds from Glock & etc.
Shootingbeaver
Ha bills wife Joyce is the president so I don’t think so. What was the exact weight on your tristar? Can some weight be removed to make it legal?

Should have known when it came in and I picked it up that I didn’t have a chance. Wishful thinking

You can't shoot a ewberkewll Wilson with flanged barrel in IDPA. There was a guy who was really mad that the Wilson he bought for the 2015 edition of CCP did not qualify when they reduced the size of The Box in 2017. Line count shows 18 Wilsons at the IDPA Nationals, 6% of entries. Hardly a major market.

Interesting. 18 and maybe 1 person out of 100 goes to the nationals, so maybe 1800 IDPA guns. 1800 * $3000 ea = $5,400,000 I am sure my numbers are off by a bit, but even if I missed it by a factor of 10, I'd rather have $540,000 in sales than a kick in the fanny. Gundad73
I have to agree with IHAVEGAS. You cannot go by people going to Nationals.

Your right the T is aluminum. I have the P120. I put an aluminum magwell on it and it weighed 49 oz. with empty magazine. ESP for IDPA is max 43oz. with empty mag. I took off the magwell and will shoot it Production USPSA. It’s on the Production list
Shootingbeaver
So does anyone know the weight of the T-120? I assume it makes weight if it’s aluminum framed.
