How to incorporate an Action Steel stage into USPSA Level 1 Match

Question for the experts....

We run an afternoon USPSA Level 1 match on a weekly basis.  It typically consists of 3 stages with 1 classifier.  Scores are uploaded weekly.

To add to the round count as well as the 'fun' factor, we want to incorporate an Action Steel stage which would be composed of the large square and round plates that are used for Steel Challenge.  2 hits on large, one hit on round.  We thought of scoring the steel as poppers - 5 points per hit, usual penalty for misses or FTSA.

We want to do this for several reasons, 1) Add to the round count 2) Fun 3) easy setup 4) no pasting 5) We don't have enough falling steel to use poppers or plates instead and 6) it is a fast stage (we have an issue with no lighting for nighttime shooting)

I understand that the stage is not a legal USPSA stage.

How can I legally keep the match a USPSA match and incorporate this stage?  I can definitely have it not for score, un-official stage of the match, etc.

Thoughts?

The only way to do it "Legally" and not get USPSA's nickers in a twist is to host two separate Matches. The first is your normal USPSA Level 1 match. The Second is your outlaw Action Steel Match. USPSA match results get uploaded to USPSA and the Outlaw match gets uploaded to Practiscore. The sticky thing here is that you should really create a different "Club" for the outlaw match so there is no confusion or commingling of match results between the official USPSA club and the Outlaw Club. This also protects you from USPSA pitching a fit and pulling your affiliation because you are hosting non-USPSA matches when claiming they are USPSA matches.

We are calling the stage a non-scored, bonus stage.  It is not uploaded to USPSA.

thanks for the input!

All stages within a USPSA match must adhere to USPSA rules. This is why it needs to be a different match.
