ksf141
hey all, I dont see or read much discussion about the EAA Elite Gold open guns. I know they have more of an international following but curious what the opinion is on them? There is something attractive about the pricepoint ($1800 out of the box with compensator and magwell etc) and some even come with a major and minor load barrels. What is your experience if anyone here runs one of these guns? Good value for the money? 9mm versus 38 super? Thanks for the help? tattooo
Great value for the money, look and feel great. Trigger is not perfect out of the box but not bad and more than usable or easily upgraded with Henning or Patriot defense parts.
kneelingatlas
I always compare the GT to the Czechmate: the price tag is higher, but it's ready to run right out of the box. The CZ has a sub two pound tigger, a big stick, three short sticks, optic and mount. It also features a descent, four port comp and no holes in the barrel which makes it much easier to make major with 9mm. The GT on the other hand comes with no optic, fewer mags and has no big stick commercially available, a crappy trigger out of the box, a crappy comp and 12 holes in the barrel making 9 major a violent affair with fewer choices on components. A much better Tanfoglio Open gun can be built for similar money starting with a Limited.
tattooo
That is a very fair and accurate comparison, but keep in mind a fully upgraded & similarly packaged GT with mags, optics, trigger upgrades & mount etc can still be had for several hundred less and arguably better when all said and done. kneelingatlas
True, I've been working on easier ways to build trick Open guns from the Limited and the TS. So far it's pretty expensive...
Fo0
I am interested to hear how well the Witness Elite Gold is built, reliable and durability as well. its drilled and tapped for mount optic, compensator, popple holes, racker any reason to stay away from these
tattooo
Yep it has everything you mentioned.

Really? 1850 for the gun, 210 for sight, 100+ for trigger work, 150 mount, nearly 500 for mags... I'm not seeing "several hundred" less than a Czechmate. Garmil
and you don't need to spend 500 for mags. one mbx big stick and a factory mag gives you an advantage over what comes stock with the czechmate for just about every stage

You still need the mags and trigger work. I just think it is a lot closer than people make it out to be.

The CMate comes with that many mags to start with, though the CMate big sticks are super duper lame. Definitely need tuning.
MikeBurgess
For 140s you can get regular mags from CDNN for 12.95 add a base spring follower from Taylor Freelance for 45ish and run 23 reloadable for under 60 each with shipping if you get several Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

Absocold
Don't forget the cost of the second set of hearing protection when running a V12 major The guy chasing you with the timer will hate you as well. Being off to the side of one of those things is brutal.
gunnit
ksf141 : between the 9 and 38 Tanfoglio open guns, 9 major can sometimes can be a bit finicky to get it to run with 100 % reliability. Some guys have no problems with 9, others manually throw their bullets at the targets to get their hits. 38 Super/Supercomp guns run much better, yes a bit louder, but I have been around other ported guns that were pretty harsh too. As mentioned by the others above, there are a lot of things to consider when throwing down some serious hard earned cash. Always if possible, find someone in your area who will let you shoot theirs. You really do need to find out if this is going to feel good in your hands, or even if your going to enjoy shooting it at all.

darthdively
Did you get an open gun. I posted my Gold Custom 38sc for sale in the classifieds. I would personally stay away from MBX for tanfoglio guns. Long story.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
selecw
I own the GT and Czechmate. The biggest disadvantage of both is the lack of gunsmiths (in the US) who work on them. For me, the CZ has been more reliable and is my match gun. But JJ uses a GT ....
Meli2127
I would definitely stay away from the MBX big stick for TF. I would go the route that kneelingatlas suggested. I have the TF gold and two of the extreme witness one of which is converted to an open gun with compensator and threaded barrel. There is no comparison when it comes down to the vertical muzzle flip and keeping the red dot on target. The price is also a little cheaper when its all done. I have worked on my Big Stick for ever and it doesn't seem to work with the Tanfoglios.
darthdively
You guys need factory 170's i have two with the euro basepad that JJ used at world shoot. I load them to 28 reloadable and they have grams kit. I'm selling my tanfo gold custom set up. These mags are 100% reliable. Never had to worry like when i was using mvxSent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
