Stevenb Posted January 7, 2018 is the Safariland 002 Cup Challenge legal for production division? What other options are there for a 6" 686 production holster?
Csbassplayer2003 Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) “Production holsters must be designed for draw from the top only. Holsters must cover the slide up to minimum of 1⁄2” below the ejection port in semi-autos and a minimum halfway down the cylinder on revolvers. Holster must prevent access to, or activation of, the trigger of the handgun when holstered.” Excerpt from rulebook on production holsters. Based on my understanding and the photos, this holster would not be production legal. Im not a referee though. DWFAN Posted January 7, 2018 I agree with Matt. Not legal.Bladetech and Comptac both make one that would be legal.
JimmyB Posted January 7, 2018 I'm in agreement, I don't think it's legal for production.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
JimmyB Posted January 7, 2018 Actually, scratch that. The 002 does cover more than 1/2 way down the cylinder and it is designed for top draw (sort of). I'd get some clarification from an official ref though.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

When you use the holster finder it only shows the J frame. Looking at the comptac option, their 6" model has an open front also, so probably not legal either
DWFAN Posted January 8, 2018 Yeah, that wouldnt be legal either.Ive seen the bladetech in use.
RippinSVT Posted January 11, 2018 Holster options have been the only thing keeping me from shooting my K38 in Production. It's just so brutally slow and cumbersome to draw with the long barrel.
Toolguy Posted January 11, 2018 For a 6" barrel, a Drop Offset holster works, an 8-3/8" would be tough.
gusshuman Posted January 14, 2018 8-3/8" barrel too long for production. Six inches max.
