John Thompson
ENFJ I answered the questions pretty accurately but the attributes with my score doesn't jive with my personality at all Dosen't tell me anything about myself as far as strengths and weakness for self improvement. I too have a problem with the sample questions but I guess it has to be short too keep people's interest.
Storm
Dowter- My stats are from a book by Jonathan Niednagel. Benos turned me on to it a while back. I'd say it's probably more accurate than the findings of a couple of tests on a couple of websites. Plus, I've done some other research on INTP's. The stuff I've seen is pretty consistent in stating INTP's as 1-2% of the population. Tightloop-Yeah, I know it's a small sample. That's why I wondered what benos had to say. He's done a lot of research into personality types. He's also spent a ton of time observing shooters, especially GMs. I was hoping he'd weigh in on this. I'd trust his observations far more than the stats collected from this thread.
jhgtyre
John's reply got me started thinking about those people who might either consciously or unconsciously work to go against type. Not that I am saying this applies to John, I don't know him. Sometimes the test may not work of course and that could be John's case. But for those who really go against type is it a stressor? It seems that it would have to be. I suppose it could also be a liberating growth experience. I don't know. Just a thought. -ld
G7.
My first post here, BTW . . . INTP 89, 44, 44, 22. Yet another one, it seems. This BB is fantastic, in the true sense of the word. Thanks, Brian!

tightloop
Am I ok if my three friends are Larry, Moe, and Curly? I know I'd be a better shooter if my three close friends were Brian, Rob, and Jerry. Or from my era, Ross, Mickey, and J. Michael.

rhino
Your Type is ENFJ Extroverted Intuitive Feeling Judging Strength of the preferences % 11 78 44 22 ENFJ type description by D.Keirsey ENFJ type description by J. Butt Qualitative analysis of your type formula You are: slightly expressed extrovert very expressed intuitive personality moderately expressed feeling personality slightly expressed judging personality ---------- I'm not sure what all that means . . . I'm curious why I was only rated 11% on the "extroverted" part since I'm mister social boy almost everywhere I go. I talk to strangers all the time and I wave at almost everyone I pass when I'm driving. Is it possible it rated me low on this because I answered that I don't like to be in "crowds"? I answered based on the personal security risks of being around too many people to control one's immediate environment (like at a sporting event or concert) and not whether or not I like being around people in general. Plus I greatly prefer being around family and my good friends, but who doesn't?
benos
Yes, typically, the test results are only vague indications of "who you are," because a), the test questions are often misleading, , we may be thinking of a certain "realm" in our life that the question is not related to or inquiring about, c), we often prefer to think we're one way when in fact we're not. You're gut feeling may be closer to the mark - you sound extroverted from your description. To me, the most important thing to remember is - You are always (at least a bit of) everything. Instead of trying to say you are this or that in this or that situation, think of it as - You have observable preferences and tendencies that influence you to behave in certain patterns in specific situations. When looked at like that, understanding not only your temperament but the temperaments of others is a powerful tool in your toolbox. Behavior becomes much less of a mystery. be

rhino
rhino, your response in the Women We Love thread is its very own personality test. You're probably right and that's kinda scary to me. I wonder what it "says" to an objective observer beyond the simple fact that it is what it is. A few years ago, a buddy and I were discussing famous women that we found attractive in different ways and we had so many that we decided to make lists. In the interim, I just kept adding to it, although a previous version was lost wherein many of them were women that I admired in addition to finding them attractive. Originally the list was also a ranking thing . . . and #1 was "Me, if I were a chick."

rhino
I'm introverted. When I'm asleep. And no one else is in the house. And I have no telephone or other means of communication. Well, maybe not even then. I just talk and visit with myself when no one else is around. I don't need emoticons in real life. Maybe we should get mobile emoticon emitters for the actual introverts?!!
