pastrana199
I have a Tanfoglio Limited Custom .40S&W with an IPSC box conform setup. I use K40 magazines with Grams spring/follower and Xtreme Base Pads. This setup holds 18 rounds. I didn't cut off any coils and the springs are new. Unfortunately, I ran into an issue that prevents the mag from a free drop. After firing a round the top round in the magazine travel forward and stuck on the ramp. See also picture below. I already polished the underside of the slide and broke the edge on the front which catches the round in the magazine. I have no clue what causes this issue. V2plus25
I also have K40 magazines with regular springs and henning basepads and this happens to the top round on mine as well. It looks like we also have similar bullet shapes except mine is a plated round nose flat point. The under side of my slide is also polished as is the edge between it and the breech face just like yours. I have never had a problem with the magazine ejecting when 1 or more rounds are still in there. 1) Have you looked at your magazine release and associated spring? Maybe some dirt got in there or the spring has gotten weak. 2) Perhaps something deformed the magazine release inside the magwell where it catches the magazines and all you need is a new mag release. 3) Have you found 1 particular magazine having trouble dropping free or are they all hanging up in the gun? 4) How clean is your feed ramp? Is there a lot of carbon build-up from too many firings between cleanings? Although I've always thought it a bit odd having the top round being a bit forward on both of my .40 Lim Pros, I have never had any issue with either of them having a partially loaded magazine drop free. I look like the same. 2) Perhaps something deformed the magazine release inside the magwell where it catches the magazines and all you need is a new mag release. I think the problem has nothing to do with the magazine catch. 3) Have you found 1 particular magazine having trouble dropping free or are they all hanging up in the gun? I have 4 magazines with the same setup and it happens to all of them. 4) How clean is your feed ramp? Is there a lot of carbon build-up from too many firings between cleanings? This was my first idea, but cleaning everything well was not the solution. 2 2 Someone on the "Tanfoglio Universe" Facebook group told me to increase the OAL of my rounds. Currently, I load them to 1.13. I'm afraid that there is not enough space to increase it more than 1.14 due to the spacer of the K40 mags. V2plus25
I also load to 1.13 so that shouldn't be the issue. Perhaps the coating on your bullets is sticky. Does it happen with other types of bullets or only those?
pastrana199
I never tried other bullets. I will try to get some plated or FMJ bullets.
arkadi
Maybe clean or tumble them if you lube them?
pastrana199
I didn't lube.
V2plus25
You might also return one of your magazines to stock (replace the Grams and Xtreme parts with stock parts) and see if the problem still exists. This would rule out the magazines being the issue.
johnbu
Increase the chamfer on the bottom edge of the breech face. That's most likely your problem area.

We get 16 in the regular Tango mags with Xtreme based... I searched the internet... please advise. Edited December 4, 2017 by Fasthenk65
pastrana199
I bought them directly at factory online shop: http://www.tanfoglio.it/shop/xtreme-line/xtreme-parti-and-accessori/caricatori-xtreme/xc003-caricatore-limited-cus-xtreme-small-frame-clone-2.html I added grams spring and follower kit from Henning but as far as I know, they don't have them anymore. But in Europe, you can get them from http://www.ipscteam.ch/shop/specials/grams-engineering/ You can also contact Gregory from http://ipsc4you.com/ He also offers a spring/follower kit for extra capacity. Joe4d
breech face isnt catching that bullet. Leave it alone. You'll end up missing the rim and catching the groove causing failure to chambers.. The breach is catching the bullet that is being chambered., the problem bullet is being caught by brass on top of it then pushing it forward enough to angle up out of the feed lips when the pressure is removed.. Like when you drop it. ROugh range brass,, too short OAL, flared feed lips from stuffing in 18 rounds, weak mag spring. Would be areas I would look first.
