Das pheasants??

Ja!

But here in southern Illinois we have to pay to put out pen raised birds.

Consequently, we have our choice of putting out quail, chukar, or pheasant.

Some would say the wild turkeys and the coyotes have destroyed the quail populations.  Plus the big farmers buying up the smaller farms, and then pulling up the fence rows.  They farm from ditch to ditch, so there is no cover for a bird that roosts on the ground.

But I digress...

I have 3 weims now.  A female blue and another male silver.

EDIT:  maybe this fall, I will make it out west to hunt wild birds.

here I only know of pheasants from pens like yours. Quail and various chukar's/grouse are wild in certain areas but the quail depend on rain which we ain't getting this year.

the farm problem you have sounds sad and not very smart with no wind break and such, but I guess the dollar drives??

btw very nice looking critters you have.

We got Bailey & Buford at SICSA. Bailey fit in the palm of my hand when we got her. Never be another one like her.

My Mojo was a star years ago at the Area 7 Championship with his own write up in the Shooting Wire!

Going To The Dogs... Finally, every match needs a mascot, and thanks to RO Donna Major, who was Top Lady in the Limited division, Area 7 had one of the best. Mojo was camped out on Donna's stage with plenty of shade, food and water, and more attention from shooters than even J.J. Racaza got. If it weren't for the fact that Mojo weighs in at around 70 lbs, and therefore too big to pick up and run off with, The Shooting Wire would have a new mascot of our own.

Getting ready for some range time... Not really, we was just playing around, he did not seem to mind though.
