69bowty Posted September 22, 2017 Share Posted September 22, 2017 My SP01 Shadows has the CGW 11.5 main spring, their firing pin and spring. I've never had a light strike on any primers. Couple weeks ago at Area 4 i had 3 failure to fire on the first shot, it happened again last week at our club match. I was finally able to recover the round and there was no mark on the primer. It appears the firing pin spring was not returning the firing pin back far enough. I've never heard of anyone having that issue so thought I'd post it to help out. I've added the firing pin spring to the trigger return spring and slide stop in my repair kit. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

abb1 Posted September 22, 2017 Share Posted September 22, 2017 If you use a reduced power FP spring, there is no need for an extended firing pin. I would use either the original firing pin/reduced power firing pin spring or extended firing pin/stock firing pin spring. What is unique about this is that you did not have a light strike, you had 'no strike'. One of two things has happened, either the pin got bent (not being able to exit the hole), or the spring got caught up in the firing pin, binding it. When I pulled the slide off at my club match the rear of the firing pin was flush with the pin retaining plate so the hammer wasn't hitting it. Just4FunLP Posted September 28, 2017 Share Posted September 28, 2017 A couple of years ago I saw a FP retainer, FP, and FP spring fall out of a guys CZ at a match. The next weekend my gun did the exact same thing. The spring was just compressed and allowed the FP to go in too far. Now I replace it more frequently.
