ame0788
So I am just getting in to open division and was wondering about bullet weight. what are your experiences with bullet weight is heavier better or lighter better? i realize that for a open gun you need the comp to do its job, so is there a good middle ground to shoot for? or some good starting reload data? jcc7x7
124/5gr, work a load up that runs your gun flat and then load a bunch of ammo and learn to shoot open
Honkeymcgee
It's either going to be a 115 or a 124/5. Seems to me like the real old school guys like 115s a little more but most people I know shoot 124s. I have shot both and am shooting 115s currently because it's what I have and they work well. 191138sc
115 gr will take more of a slower powder but have the benefit of more gas. Your comp may very well work more effectively with a slower powder. Experiment with both 124's and 115's. Be sure to watch out for the powder load difference between the two. Good luck. Didn't like the lighter bullets - switched over to MG 124 JHP's and have never looked back.
Banacek
I have been using MGB 124gr JHP for a long long time now and they have done well. At one point a friend and I compared JHP vs Jacked round nos and found the JHP gave us a faster speeds than compared to the round nose. This was in Colorado (so ~5000 feet) I have not completed the same test at sea level, maybe others have.

Hi-Power Jack
I'm using 6.9 gr WAC under a MG 124 JHP. At 1.165", with a TruBor and no popple holes.
