benlineberry
I have a left-handed 9mm AR built with Stag parts. Every time I think I have the gun feeding reliably, it proves me wrong (usually during a match.) The Stag magazines were very hit or miss (mostly miss), so I switched to Metalform, which are better, but still has doublefeeds that are difficult to clear. I was considering putting my existing lefty upper on a lower that accepts Glock magazines, thinking that all of the parts could be moved over, the bolt "shaved", and the Glock mags would be more reliable. Does that sound like a reasonable plan, or are Glock mag lowers just as finicking and unreliable? Link to comment

Both of mine feed flawlessly if I load to 1.15 OAL or less (1.16 or more will sometime rub in ETS mags and can slow feeding). The only Colt style mags I've personally seen running well are the 10 rounders. But YMMV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
Les Snyder
+1 to 1911luvr comment... if you get a bone stock Glock mag billet lower without any last round bolt hold open nonsense you should be fine...my experience mirrors 1911luvr with the PCC .... limit the bolt travel with a bumper so you can just lock it open to show clear... I perceive comments on other forums are not from USPSA PCC shooters... it is a whole lot easier to do a mag change with a short Glock pistol mag than with a 32 round Colt stick Link to comment
benlineberry
Thanks for the response, guys. I don't really care about LRBHO, so that's no problem for me. I pull back on the charging handle and let the RO take the flag out/put it back in for "Make Ready" and "Show Clear", and don't run dry, anyway. Anyone familiar with Angstadt Arms? They appear to be a 9mm AR glock mag specialist. I was thinking of working with them. Anyone else I should look at? Edited June 26, 2017 by benlineberry Link to comment
Southpaw
Wouldn't the ejector be on the wrong side to work with your lefty upper? Link to comment
benlineberry
Crap. I didn't think of that... *sigh* Maybe i'll go back to playing with OAL; see if that helps. Edited June 26, 2017 by benlineberry Link to comment
Les Snyder
ben... I have two 9mm Glock mag lowers... the one on my PCC is from New Frontier Armory and is billet... for grins, I built a 7" 9mm AR "pistol" with a billet lower from Palmetto State Armory which is also made by New Frontier and rebranded ... the PSA model was around $210 complete...you will most likely want a better trigger...I just fooled with the OEM hammer and added a "yellow" JP hammer spring most any machine shop should be able to mill the bolt to Glock magazine feedlip width specs Edited June 26, 2017 by Les Snyder Link to comment
Southpaw
Yeah I'm not aware of any Glock mag lower that's designed to work with a lefty upper. If you're sick of dealing with the malfunctions you might be better off just ditching the lefty AR and buying or building a regular right side eject Glock mag AR. I'm a lefty too and have no problem with a regular right side eject AR9. I did add a gas deflector as without it I felt some gas blowback, but with the gas deflector I get no blowback. And I added an ambi selector and charging handle. If going with the ambi charging handle I'd recommend getting an upper without a forward assist as it gets in the way of grabbing the right side of the ambi charging handle, plus the forward assist doesn't actually work on an AR9. But be sure you get an upper that has the provisions for adding an ejection port door as you need that for the gas deflector. Link to comment
Les Snyder
I think the Wilson bolt has a spring loaded ejector like a 5.56, but not sure if they make one for left hand eject... you might send an e-mail to Rudy at Macon Armory... Link to comment
benlineberry
Thanks, everyone. I may have been too hasty in dumping my lefty rifle, just yet. I checked the OAL of my rounds and they were ~1.172; way long (nut must have slipped.) I'm going to work up a load before I ditch the rifle for something else. It looks like most people like ~1.130, so I may have to work up a CFE load with that COL and see how it goes. Edited June 28, 2017 by benlineberry Link to comment
Gcarr
The answer is the new ambi lower from Gibbz. The ejector can be moved for right or left side eject. Really nice video on their website showing how it works. I have been looking at them myself, but I am waiting on the left handed bolt and upper that they say is on the way. I have a Gibbz left handed (side charger) 223 upper and I must say they make nice stuff. If you pick one up please advise as to how it works. Link to comment

TacticalJesus
not sure about the lefty but I'd give Angstadtarms a call and ask them. I have two of their PCC and love them. Link to comment
