markO
overnited my app to today In order to avoid a conflict with Area 6, we are holding our Tactical 3-Gun match on the first weekend in December. Show us some love, I want this to be an annual event so I MUST fillit up,only 125 slots total!!!!!! So HURRY UP! The Game is set! The US Army Marksmanship Unit will hold the 1st ever Fort Benning Tactical 3-Gun Championship to be held 3-4 December 2005 at Fort Benning, Georgia. This match will have 13 stages and a chronograph, your pistol will determine major or minor scoring, however your rifle must make the USPSA minor floor. This match will have something for every style shooter and will be challenging for all skill levels while being extremely FUN! Have you ever ran down the ramp of a Bradley or Stryker fighting vehicle? How about engaging targets from the turret of a HMMWV, with a light machine-gun? Ever fired an AK-47 full-auto at 50 yards? These are a few of the fun and interesting aspects of our stage designs. The entry fee is a modest $145.00 which includes all you can eat BBQ iced tea and beer at the awards program on Sunday. You will shoot a FULL day on Saturday and until about 1:00pm on Sunday with food and beverages commencing at cease-fire. We will have a prize table and a generous CASH PAYBACK. Right now we are set at a $1,000.00 prize to the winner of Tactical and Open divisions. 2nd and 3rd for those divisions will be $500.00 and $300.00 respectively. In addition we will do 2 Lewis cuts for $250.00! Lots of opportunities to win cash. That is a whole LOT of CASH!!!!!!! Tactical and Open are IAW USPSA rules for equipment. Scoring system will be released NLT 1 September. Due to our limited staff we are working to automate the best system possible. Try not to let this bother you, we will be squared away. Bottom line this will be an outstanding match so come out and play but register early, the web link for the applications will be posted next week. If you have any questions please post, if you would like to sponsor a stage or the match please send me an email to aaron.L.hampton@us.army.mil and I’ll get back to you. Please feel free post opinions, this is our first match, but it will be a lot of fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

T_T
I was in hopes that it would not be a triathlon event. I think I'm getting to old for this. Anyone have a pacemaker and a bottle of oxygen I can use? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Still Praying- The only reason you'll need a bottle of oxygen is from the exhilaration of using some of the "props" we have in store for you! I shoot iron sights now on the rifle but we only shoot out to 200 yards. I am trying to decide if I should get an optic for the rifle. Does anyone know what the longest rifle shots will be at this match? Hi Walter- The longest shots will be 300 yards. There will be some partial rifle shots in between there, so I recomend you know your elevation holdoffs. Absolutely no shame in slapping some glass on there though. The entries continue to pour in and I am amazed at the caliber of shooters signed up thus far. It is a field as deep as Nationals! I really wish I could shoot this match but somebody has got to run the clock. It will be a great opportunity to see the BEST in action! davidwiz
Do you need a sling for the rifle? If you are having "multi-gun" stages, how are you going to handle the grounding of firearms?

BigHamp
Alright, I knew the hard questions would come soon enough. The stages will not be posted until 15 August. There will be NO speed unloads. If the course of fire requires it we will have a safe area for your HOT weapon. There will be several multi-gun stages. At least 1 with 3-Guns, and a few will have other weapons. On August 15th all stages will be posted and a link posted in this thread here on BE, all registered match competitors will be e-mailed this link. You will not need a sling for your rifle. EVERY effort is being made to make this a safe and fun match. More to follow, keep your entries coming! Hamp
BigHamp
Alright, 16 days into this, the super secret pistol Class is FULL! For those that have submitted the application with the request checked, you will receive a confirmation on Monday, if you haven't already. As for the match we still have room, so keep the applications coming! I plan to post pics of the newly completed range next week. It is a sight to behold! Thanks to everyone for the support and applications, this will be a match to remember! Hamp
recon215
Hamp, We, the guys coming down from here, are wondering what type of shotgun ammo is going to be needed/allowed at the match? Birdshot only, BB, buck or slugs? I know the last big 3 gun matches I shot, SOF, were always slugs and 00 Buck only. Just asking so we know exactly what we need to play with beforehand! Looking forward to coming back to Benning, it's been a few years.
BigHamp
Once the stages are posted in August you will have the exact round count. As for shotgun, you will only need bird and slug, however you are welcome to bring and shoot buckshot if you feel it will provide an advantage. Karl @ GT
AMMO FOR SHOTGUN SIDE MATCH: Bring an extra case of 7.5 or 8 shot for the side events. With multiple runs allowed on both side events, and CASH to win one case may not be enough. Be prepared. Later, Karl @ GT
