Why are group buys not allowed?

I'm a little confused.. why are group buys not allowed? Especially if payments are made directly to the manufacturer, and there's zero risk of scamming?

Been talked about in the past. This is from a moderator:

Nothing's wrong with a group buy that works out for everyone; the problem is that in most group buys there's some kind of hiccup --- unless you personally know all of the people involved. We made a conscious decision that we didn't want to deal with that here --- both because it would potentially create a lot of work, and because it would/could detract from the forum's core purpose.....

 

If you just type "group Buys" into the search window you can find the same thing.

you could always take the "group buy" to private message email

biglou13 is hitting exactly what I'm talking about. A group buy from a vendor eliminates any hiccups, especially if it's an established vendor. It's really just like buying a product from them except people may want customization options that will be cheaper if ordered in larger numbers.

There was a group interest thread  in the EAA Tanfoglio forum for LOK grips, and that was never shut down.
