IGOTGLOCKED
I reloaded a pan full of 9 to work on during the SB. Again I can attest to even range pick ups same type head stamps make a big difference in oal variance! Saturday I ran all the brass I had primed but not now loaded (maybe 150) which were of various head stamps. I saw an average extreme variance of .006 - .009. The ones I loaded yesterday were all Blazer ( I tried Winchester last time) and again saw an extreme variance of 95%+ of them to be only .002-.003. And again 100% of them gauged in the chamber of my barrel, I don't use a case gauge any more... Cheers!
IGOTGLOCKED
You know I have been on a mission to reduce my OAL variance. Of recent I have began hand sorting (9mm) by head stamp and was quite pleased with the results this weekend. The best brass so far seems to be Speer. A great majority of the batch was as good as an OAL variance of +/- .001 - .002! I was getting +/- .003 - .004 with Blazer. Yes, on a 650... It's kind of a pain hand sorting head stamps however the results speak for themselves! Cheers! Edited February 20, 2017 by IGOTGLOCKED
MemphisMechanic
What is the difference in accuracy you find with your hand-sorted ammo? Are chrono velocities or group sizes more consistent? I'd honestly be surprised if they are, but I have an open mind about it.
IGOTGLOCKED
Don't know yet Memphis. I had to reserve the LE Bay @ my lgs to do the chrono work and couldn't get the bay until next Tuesday. Closest outdoor range is 1.5 hrs away...
