how bright of a dot?

So how high do you turn up your dot when shooting ? do you turn it up just enough to see through the dot to the target or higher to where it blooms?

I turn it down a bit.  I prefer it to be a bit transparent.  It helps with longer shots and is not so distracting.

Yup. Generally that means all the way up if it is sunny, less if it's overcast/indoors.

I use a C-More and have  it set to the sixth indent.  It's plenty sharp and bright  there even in the Arizona sunlight.  For bullseye shooting I keep it at about a 4.  It goes to 10 and never stars out like other red dots.  Get a C-more with the size dot you want and forget about it.

I have one on  my 929, 617 and my Ruger Mark III.

Slide ride I'd run up to about 7-8 when the battery starts to go out I'd run it up all the way. Dry fire inside on like 3, but like others said just before it starbursts.

rts2 I run on the lowest setting because it is waaaaay brighter... mine is anyways. Can't dry fire without a starburst inside because can't turn it low enough.

My RTS2 is not as bright as the Slideride, so I turn it all the way up outdoors.

Delta Point Pro.

I like a slight starburst.  It's faster and blam right in my face this way.

When I'm shooting 50 yard shots in practice I turn it down.
