boatdoc
I was wondering if anyone has tried to work up any loads with this powder yet.

Yeti
Coated 230RN (ACME) under 5.6gr BE-86 ran (avg) 818fps at 1.250" in 5" bbl...dialed it down to 5.2gr and got 790fps, which was still 181PF. BE-86 has got some speed. I liked it in 40 & 9 better: Coated 180TCG (Bayou) under 5.4gr BE-86 was 169PF for me at 1.180" 5" bbl. 9mm: Coated 124RN (ACME) under 4.6gr BE-86 avg 996fps 1.120" 5" bbl. What was your ES/SD on those .45 loads?

DIV7703
In my case 5.8 grains of BE-86 under a Winchester 230 FMJ gave me an average of 760FPS and a FP of 170. COL 1.255 Temperture: 57F Number of shots: 16 Pressure: 30.4 inHg Minimum: 740 Bullet Weight: 230 Maximum: 187 Power Factor Avg. 175 Spread: 75 Power factor Low: 170 Average: 760 Power Factor High: 187 Standard Deviation: 18 All were shot out of a 5" Les Baer Comcept V .45ACP
aandabooks
Worked up a load for .357sig making major. Made it there easy. Then went to a load of CFE Pistol and like the feel better. I really didn't notice a huge flash reduction out of my ported barrel.
DIV7703
Very happy with my 230 grain FMJ over 5.8 grains of BE-86. It passed the Chrono ( New Radar thing) at the IDPA Lone Star Match in Cresson Texas last Saturday. They came out at 750FPS and were accurate shot out of a Les Baer Concept V. noylj
If you are talking about .45 Auto, I find it too slow for optimum performance. It would work if no other powder was available, but it is no where near my top 20 for .45 Auto. It will come into its own with any cartridge with a working pressure of 26,000 psi or more. Why use a slow powder, requiring a higher charge weight for the same velocity as a faster powder, unless there is some gain (such as possibly working a comp. or something)?
