Intercooler2
My K100 just won't digest it! Anything steel cased it won't extract round after round. I have to manually work the slide to clear the chamber. Sometimes it even locks solid where the barrel won't rotate to allow the slide to go back. This even happens with Freedom's new brass coated steel 9mm rounds.
P.E. Kelley
I am confident it is because of the "match" stepped chamber design. Sorry...I thought this was about the Xcalibur. I did not think the K100 had the stepped chamber...mine does not. Edited July 10, 2016 by P.E. Kelley

pfcchambers
I run Tula thru my K100 all the time have not had any issues. It's been 100 percent with any ammo I've tried so far.

It has functioned perfectly with steel cased ammo, brass, aluminum, etc, but I understand that doesn't help you. I didn't have to do anything to "get it to run" besides load the magazines. Yesterday I shot it with a fairly stout charge of HS6, and some sub minor steel challenge type loads. So far it seems to like everything. What does brass look like coming out? Have you taken a look at the chamber?
Intercooler2
I don't know if I have any steel cased ammo left, but will try to get some before my next trip and make a video. My K100 has the stepped chamber and stops every round... HARD! Is the pistol in the video a stepped design or straight cut?

I don't think you will get the stepped chamber to run any steel case reliably.
Intercooler2
Interesting! I would rather have a straight cut! What would I have to do or order for that?
Intercooler2
A picture is worth a thousand words if you could possibly take a picture of your straight cut chamber. I would really appreciate it!

It looks like most every other pistol barrels chamber. I think the HK 30L might be stepped as well, but this stepped chamber is the exception not the rule. P.E. Kelley
http://www.arizonashooting.com/v3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=209191 Try shining a light back through the muzzle. This is how the step looks.
Intercooler2
Yup. Mine has the same step and everything looks okay. It's the only pistol I have ever seen with that step in the chamber. If you have it reamed though?
P.E. Kelley
No I don't think it can be reamed...but you could try.
Kingman
They are hardened enough, you will ruin a reamer. Most steel cases are wax coated. That is because most steel cased ammo is not as smooth and polished as brass.
Intercooler2
I'm still trying to figure out what models or barrels come with "straight" cut chambers instead of tapered? Can I send mine in for an exchange
Kingman
My newer k100 is stepped.
Intercooler2
What models does P.E. Kelley have with the straight cut? I think that's what he used in the video and said they work.
P.E. Kelley
My newer k100 is stepped. Mine is an older K100 non Mark 12 frame. So looks like the new design is stepped. Thanks Kingman for the info.
Intercooler2
I wonder what it is about that step that creates havoc with steel casings?

pfcchambers
Mine is an older K100 as well, one of the 299 J&G Sales. Been very happy with mine. It's my carry optics setup.
