mikeyjones
I have a Springer Loaded 1911 in .45 that I'm thinking about using in SS. Want to change out the rosewood grips to something more functional. Looking for opinions for some grippy grips.

ltirona
VZ Diamondbacks or Tech-well agressive G10 grips with Tech-well magazine well.
Dirtchevy841
Have a Dawson crp Trojan 45 and I out vz operator 2 on it. I love them. Diamondbacks weren't aggressive enough for me for a competition grip.

coltlover
I've used the VZ grips in several configurations. I love the look, but none were quite grippy enough for me. I do live in the hot, humid South, however. I have come to like the Kensight Sharkskin 1911 panels lately. Not as sexy as the VZ, but for functionality, I prefer them for shooting. http://stores.kensight.com/accessories/
jswhitesell619
The vz grips are great! Anyone ever try stippling a set of magpul grips to get maximum grip?
js1130146
Another vote for the Kensight Sharkskins. They provide a great grip regardless of how wet and sweaty your hands get.
kcd19
VZ Recons are what you are looking for. Golf-ball type pattern, very grippy in all conditions.
Dirtchevy841
The vz grips are great! Anyone ever try stippling a set of magpul grips to get maximum grip? My buddy tried that and it didn't come out the way he wanted and he did a aggressive job on them. When he was done it looked like a train wreck. Needless to say he put them right in the trash. But maybe a pro at stippling may have done a better job. He's not the sharpest knife on the bunch.
Dirtchevy841
I've also used vz frags in SS but when it gets hot in summer in the south with humidity I switch to operators 2. Louisiana you need aggressive grips in summer time.

mikeyjones
Ordered a set of the kensights. Will report back when they're installed.
cooper74
VZ gunners are okay too... I found that I really like sandpaper grips - so you could always look for TRP style grips or make your own. I've stippled ergo plastic grips before too and that worked great... think you can find those for ~20 bucks so it's not a huge loss if you screw them up. shooterDrew
VZ Recons are what you are looking for. Golf-ball type pattern, very grippy in all conditions. Another vote for VZ recons. I started with operator2s and loved them till I got a set of recons. The recons are the entire grip in the same pattern as the front half of the operator2s. Awesomely aggressive. Theyre the perfect grip for me.
StraightSh00ter
I'll add the reminder that changing mainspring housings for different checkering, and adding grip tape to the front strap, can help as well.

Dan Sierpina
Are the rosewood grips checkered? If they are, keep them, and have a classy single stack. Disclaimer, I'm old and like fancy checkered wood grips on a 1911.
Fantom919
DSPerman 19-20 grips. 2011 feel and light enough to make weight. Bit pricy and you have to fit them to your frame but worth it.
Dons1911
I run Derwood MFG grips on all my 1911's. For super grip they have one called the RIOT. It is amazingly grippy! Taylor is great to work with there also!
CaptainOverkill
I have VZ Gunners on mine along with grip tape on the front strap and an Ed Brown "snakeskin" mainspring housing. The texture is just about perfect IMO. It's rough but not too harsh as long as you shoot/dry fire regularly.
motosapiens
DSPerman 19-20 grips. 2011 feel and light enough to make weight. Bit pricy and you have to fit them to your frame but worth it. i like grip tape for all weather conditions. up until i almost cut my pinkie off, I just used the cheapest smooth wood grips I could find and put grip tape on them. Now my strong hand pinkie doesn't bend at the last joint anymore, so the DSPerman grips are sufficiently wider that my pinkie doesn't get in the way. I am quite fond of them now. http://dsperman.com/products/default.html Edited May 17, 2016 by motosapiens
