CaptainOverkill
I'm looking to have someone fit an SVI trigger bow to a plastic STI grip (just not comfortable doing this myself). Anyone had this done by FGW, and would you recommend them? I don't know anything about them, but their name popped up when doing a search, and I recall seeing the name on here once before. Maximis228
Find a local guy. That's a pretty simple install job to send the gun out, Unless you live close.
FearsomeCritter
Go with a local guy. That is pretty basic work and I wouldn't want to potentially have my gun gone for weeks plus shipping on a job that will take less than an hour to do.
MissionaryMike
Where do you live? I'm pretty sure someone can recommend a local smith to you based on your geography.
S&W686
I would also recommend finding a local gunsmith, but Bobby at Freedom Gunworks does excellent work. I have four guns from him and all function flawlessly.
glassblower
Go local, but its pretty simple so with a little searching here you can find instructions for doing it yourself.
CaptainOverkill
I'm in Huntsville, AL. I talked to a smith here, and his only remark was, "It's a pain in the ass."

I wouldn't trust that guy to sit the right way on a toilet, much less work on a gun.
MissionaryMike
Don't be discouraged. Sometimes it takes several phone calls, or even a few face to face visits, to find a gunsmith trustworthy enough to work on our beloved guns. Once you do find one, however, it could be the start of a good relationship.
redbone1
I had some work done, which included fitting a svi trigger, by Bobby on my single stack gun. He did an amazing job and if I remember correctly my gun was only gone for about a week, not sure what his turn around time is now though. He is also very responsive via email and answered all my questions up front. I would not hesitate to use him again.
tha1000
Run it down to Frank Proctor and his guys in Eastaboga if you can't find someone local to do it.
echotango
Bobby did some work for me with a 2 day turn around. Also am very happy with his open gun.
CaptainOverkill
Run it down to Frank Proctor and his guys in Eastaboga if you can't find someone local to do it.I didn't realize this was something in Frank's wheelhouse. I've taken a few classes with him and shot with him at his place a few times. Maybe I'll give him a shout.

They swapped the sights out on one of my guns when I was there for a class. I wouldn't ask him to build a gun for me, but I'd let them swap a trigger out. If nothing else, he can probably point you to someone in that general area that can do it for you without having to ship it.
