Quirk
i have a Mr Bullet Feeder on a 1050 and load pistol currently. I read on a related thread here that I could bell the case using an M die at the swaging station and then go back to use the Dillon powder die at powder drop. Would the stage function still work or should I remove the swaging rod if I do this? C Sent from my iPad Edited April 16, 2016 by Quirk

Quirk
RiggerJJ, thanks for replying. Could be my backer rod needs replacing. At this point, it doesn't change the ID of the 9mm case at all after the case passes through this station. Using 147 gr coated cast bullets, the MBF powder funnel bell that is applied at powder drop does not prevent the bullet from topping on indexing. (MBF doesn't seat the bullet like I hear the GSI does). I had wondered if I could use an M die, or something like the (.357) 38AP Exp. Plug from NOE Bullet Moulds installed in my Lee Universal Case Expander, at the swage station instead. This would expand the case concentrically just enough to stabilize the bullet on indexing. I just didn't know if the primer swaging function would be adversely affected if I did that...I figured Dillon would say I can't do that, but wondered if anyone here had tried that. I also wondered if this was a bad idea for reasons I wasn't aware of. I have made lots of 9mm on the 1050 but I'm not steeped in the lore of reloading like many here. If I expand the case at this swage station, I can go back to using the Dillon powder funnel so it doesn't stick as much as the MBF funnel does...even with lube. I know doing something like this will probably shorten brass life, but I lose the brass before anything cracks, etc. Happily accept a shortened life of this 9mm brass if I can speed up production (prevent bullet toppling) with this fix. In truth, almost never does a crimped primer pocket case make it into my brass at this point, so I could just remove the swage rod and use this station as a custom bell/expansion station instead, I guess. thanks C
