2016 Bluegrass Shotgun Championship - July 30th - @ BGSL, Lex, KY

Recommended Posts

Announcing the inaugural Bluegrass Shotgun Championship July 30 at the Bluegrass Sportsmens League in Wilmore, Kentucky, just outside Lexington.

This one day match will feature 9-10 challenging stages with short and fast bay-type stages and longer open terrain-type stages and everything in between. There are few shotgun-only matches this year and the Bluegrass Shotgun Championship promises to be the largest and perhaps only dedicated shotgun match east of the Mississippi in 2016.

The match is limited to 100 shooters and registration is OPEN at Practiscore ($60 match fee). Match staff are working on random draw prize table - updates forthcoming.

Divisions will include open, semi-auto and pump. Trophies awarded for Top 3 in each division plus high Kentucky overall for each division.

Follow the Bluegrass Shotgun Championship on Facebook for up-to-date info, stage information, lodging and rules.

Awesome. BGSL is a great place to shoot, should make for a great SG match venue. Staff there have been shooting other SG matches for years and know what makes them fun.

Here is a question though. What makes it a "championship"? Is it just a name because it sounds cool? can anyone sign up?

There are no other shotgun only matches in Kentucky - or east of the Mississippi River this year that we are aware of. So there's that. We are also going to recognize high Kentucky-based shooter in each division as well as Top 3 in each from anywhere. So it is open to all shooters, but a slight extra shout out to our Kentucky shooters.

No - you should be able to squad via your personal match mgmt page in Practiscore once paid and approved. All squadding will be online in advance.

So are we supposed to pay before we will be "approved" into the match?

We've had quite a few people ask why they weren't approved for the match yet. We're doing payments ahead of the match to save some time. You should have received payment instructions after you registered. You'll receive a link to squad once payment has been received.

We're also working on the different sponsorship levels, so we can refund fees if you get a sponsor slot later.

If you prefer to not use PayPal, you may mail your fee to:

Bluegrass Pistol Club

496 Manitoba Ln.

Lexington, KY 40515

Paypal is fairly anti-gun...so I sent my money as a gift and didn't put really any terms that they would recognize.

eg...I was fairly adverse to putting shotgun anywhere in the memo....just my name and the acronym of the club.

Cheers,

The Michigan boys are heading down as well, think I am going to run pump just for fun.

Any information for a hotel in the area?

We have 16 slots left as of today. We may open another squad if needed. We still need a few RO's too. We're working on approval for the stage areas, and would like to have at least one empty stage to keep the match flowing. The plan is for 10 stages now.

The division break down as of today is

Semi auto 69
Open 8
Pump 7

We need at least 10 in each division to recognize first to third place. We'll adjust accordingly based on each division if there are less than 10.

Any information for a hotel in the area?

The nearest hotels are the Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Inn, both in Nicholasville, KY - approx. 10 min away from the match. Other options include: Comfort Suites and Fairfield Inn in Lexington, KY - approx. 20 min away from match. No particular endorsement of any hotel; they all seem fine.

This sucks, I'm stuck in Lexington this weekend (University of Kentucky for a training class) with nothing to shoot. Be nice if it was this weekend.
