optimator
Do you guys that put the comp kit into your guns also use the striker spring, or do you leave the stock one in?
TacticalReload
I'd give it a shot and see if you like it and to verify that it doesn't lead to light strikes or function problems. The striker spring is by far the easiest part of the kit to uninstall if you're not happy -- should take all of about two minutes.
echotango
I installed the entire kit. No issues thus far.
optimator
I installed the entire kit too. I bought the gun new. I've put around 500 rounds through it so far. Today I had one light strike. It was odd because there was no mark on the primer at all. I cycled the round out of the gun and finished the mag. I then put it back in and it fired off no problem. I can't say for sure but I might not have gotten a reset on the trigger. But with the kit and the Apex trigger in it, the reset is so short that I really doubt it. TacticalReload
That is definitely weird. Were you sure that the pistol was fully in battery at the time? With the rate that the barrel unlocks / drops and how far out of battery the slide can be when the trigger will still try to drop the striker, it's a possibility (albeit an unlikely but still unnerving one). Either way, if it was related to a weak striker spring, you would think that there would be a light dent on the primer at the very least.
optimator
It may not have been all the way back into battery. I was shooting at a pretty fast pace, I pulled, nothing, so I quickly just cleared the weapon and kept going. It was weird though.

Made ready, drew from holster, pulled the trigger and nothing. Cleared the round and ran the stage all the way thru without an issue. In fact, ran the rest of the day without a problem. Unfortunately, I didn't think to pick up the round to check what the hell happened.
swordfish
I combined the Competition Spring Kit and the Forward Set Sear kit from Apex like the gunsmith at Apex told me to do, and got my trigger down to 28oz. Only have about 500 rounds through the gun so far but no malfunctions yet. I do have an older version with the smaller diameter sear spring, and I hear that can cause problems. Because of all the light springs and pushing the envelop, I'm ok with a couple malfunctions. It's strictly a race gun, and I want it to be as tricked out as possible to see how far I can get with it. Might try a different brand of primer if you keep having that problem and reload your own ammo. Or just switch back to the stock striker spring if it manages to be a serious issue or if 100% reliability is a concern. I'm happy with my 99%
Tarkeg
Pick up one of these: http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_90_115&products_id=1313 The small sear spring/plunger are much more prone to sear flutter and "dead trigger". Already got one. It increased the trigger pull by over a pound. Switched it back and the new one is sitting in a bag in a drawer.
brownnutz
So update on my end.. I had 2 light strikes last night during a local match. Both times, I cleared the round and continued. I installed the full ACEK kit about a month ago now and in the span of 1400ish rounds total, I have had a total of 4 light strikes. We discussed it may be my ammo (115gr. Blazer Brass) but after some research on here and after speaking to a few people that I trust...we decided to switch the striker spring out. After the match, broke down the slide and put the OE spring back in. Hopefully can run another 600rds or so before the next local match next tuesday. I will let you all know what comes of it. swordfish
I've gotten two light strikes so far, with less than 1000 rounds through the gun after the install. If I start shooting IPSC and worrying about making A class, I might give it a thought. Plus all the spring kits I keep buying seem to come with new striker springs, so I have a ton just lying around doing nothing. Ugh.

Plus all the spring kits I keep buying seem to come with new striker springs, so I have a ton just lying around doing nothing. Ugh. So like I said, after that match I decided to switch the striker back to the stock striker spring. I am about 600rds. in and have had NO issues with light primer strikes or FTF. I have read a few threads on here and that seems to be the general consensus. So APEX ACEK and stock striker spring is gtg.
