gumby510
Hello, Does anyone have experience with the svi extractor. I'm trying to decide between the svi or the Wilson combat bulletproof extractor, also trying to decide if it's worth the extra $40. I really haven't read anything bad about either, just want to see what people with first hand experience think. Everyone with a svi seem to really like them. Or should I really be looking at the aftec. This would be going on a 9mm 2011. Sti tactical frame, Caspian commander slide, with a threaded bull barrel. This will be a HD, range and potential carry gun. http://www.sviguns.com/1101.php?indx=18 http://shopwilsoncombat.com/mobile/Extractor-70-Series-38-Super_9mm-Bullet-Proof-Blue/productinfo/415-S70/

broadus123
I have a wilson bulletproof in my 45 1911 ss gun. I initially had to tension it but after thousands of rds it hasn't changed. It has been 100%. Can't say anything about the svi. I use aftec in my 2011s. Edited April 2, 2016 by broadus123

gumby510
So is the aftec that good? I ask because in trying to keep this gun as simple as possible and the aftec adds 3 parts. So I guess what I'm saying is the aftec that superior of a design over the traditional wc bulletproof?
dons
I used a traditional extractor in my 38 Super 2011 (now backup) for years - I'm guessing 20 or more, with no failures due to the extractor. I also have an aftec on my current open gun. The aftec works well, but needed as much tuning as the traditional extractor did, and the traditional is easier to remove and replace for cleaning. IMHO, YMMV.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: I use Aftec, Caspian, Ed Brown and EGW. All work well. Tune them and have a spare that you will never need. I have loaned out out my spare a couple of times. Thanks, Eric
Tino2212
I use a tuned caspian extractor in mij open custom 2011 9 major never had any issues with it . My smith always puts in these extractors , no more aftecs he says a normal one if tuned right is the way to go he has seen more issues with aftecs than with a properly fitted caspian . gumby510
Thanks everyone. I'll just get both the svi and Wilson combat bulletproof, tube them both and see what one I like better and then I have a backup. I'll just keep things simple.
