Bigsampson
I did the work. I've done four previously. Not a professional, but I would say I am proficient. As I said, I did not get overly aggressive. And it worked fine for 1 or 200 rounds. Shell is centered and no extra movement.
kurtm
My old M1 Benelli is starting to do this. It has nothing to do with the spring, nor "over porting" but after 300,072 rounds, the "centering strike plates" have worn away allowing a bit of shell wobble. Doesn't do it under recoil because of "shell surge" taking most of the pressure off the shell stop, but trying to drop one on the carrier is problematic, so I just port load it. Might get in there and TIG up the strike plate, but meh, it is still running. I'll bet you got abit to far on one side or the other....or up and down.
