kimberacp
what is the difference between the two? Is the chamber to deepen where the case sits against and the throat reamer is to extend the barrel lands? this would be for a 9mm major Open gun. I get the ring around the ojive for the bullet when finding a seating depth. I want to seat longer but I see the ring. So would the barrel lands, needs to be extend...is that correct? Not the chamber depth, that would affect the head spacing. thanks
practical_man
If the chamber gauges correctly now then all you need is a throat reamer. They are about $100. If you are only doing one it makes more sense to take it to a local competent gunsmith with your dummy rounds and have him do cut as required
mscott
A throating reamer is what you need. They are $55 from Brownell's for the Manson reamer. Nothing wrong with supporting your local 'smith if you have a good one, but I don't and bought my own. It's not difficult, but go slow as you won't need to take much out. dlidster
Dave Manson Precision Reamers has throat reamers for $40 plus $7 shipping. It's a high-quality product and they're delightful people to deal with. I ordered one over the phone on a Monday and it arrived in my Thursday mail. I used it to lengthen the throats in my three CZ 75Bs. http://mansonreamers.com/
wgj3
Some manufacturers will also perform the service for free if you ask. I recently bumped into this issue with an M&P .40 barrel from KKM. Called them and they said that I could send them the barrel with a few of the rounds that I want to be able to use and they would work on the throat/leade for me for free. sschultz
If you had a 40 barrel could you chamber it to 10mm safely.

kimberacp
If you had a 40 barrel could you chamber it to 10mm safely. to do this, would I not need a chamber reamer also?

joelpend
Go slow, the throating reamers are not removing much material so you can go too deep really easy.
