mont1120
Should I ever decide to try Single Stack for fun, will an STI 2011 top slide in .45 work on an STI single stack frame? That way I could compete with the pistil in either Limited, Limited 10, or Single Stack, pick your poison.

ChuckS
Does the top end have a bushing barrel? If no, then single stack is out unless the barrel is no longer than 4.2" long
mont1120
Yes, it is of the bushing style. No bull barrel.
dansedgli
Not always. Depends on how both were originally fitted. Frame rails might be too tight, slide stop hole might be slightly different affecting lockup etc. I had an incompatible edge and trojan last year. The trojan worked on my trubor frame though. zzt
If you already own the STI 1911 receiver, give it a try and see how it fits. If it fits tightly and the lockup is good, you will be fine. If the fit is loose, I would not do it. I tried that once and the loose slide caused rapid wear on the frame rails.
txolds442
I had the same question, but opposite. I just got a Trojan and was wondering if I could run a 2011 frame. Now I know. Stand by for inbound stupid questions on by end.
mont1120
I have the 2011, but don't want to waste money buying the 1911 frame if it will not work. I was thinking it would be pretty cool to be able to slide off the slide.....ha, ha, and just slip it onto a 1911 frame. That way I have two great guns for the price of an additional bottom frame, not too bad a deal. Edited February 23, 2016 by mont1120

Aircooled6racer
Hello: It will be close if you use a STI 1911 frame. You can make the frame fit the slide. Personally I would just buy a 1911 and then you have two guns for twice the fun. A 9mm 1911 is a sweet gun to shoot. Thanks, Eric
Quack
Knedrgr went the other way and fit a 1911 slide to a 2011 frame.
Glenn-M1911
I have a STI .40 top that fits both 2011 and 1911 frames. sent the whole works off to Doug Jones (http://www.acc-u-rail.com/) and they both run like they are on ball bearings.
