4me2ply
I recently purchased a set of SVI tubes for my 9 major 2011. My 3 140mm tubes are running good but there is an issue with the 170. I took it to the range Saturday and didn't have any issues, however, the first stage I used it in yesterday it did the following: gets down to 6 or so in the tube and from what I can tell I have multiple rounds jammed up in the chamber. I tried quick firing a full mag after this stage and got the same result. I have 13 coil grams spring and follower. I've been told there is no "measurement" so to speak for the SVI mag feed lips so I'm looking for things to check from those more experienced than myself. Thanks for any help in advance. For clarification these were new tubes I purchased from SVI. Edited February 22, 2016 by 4me2ply
Quack
I'm not at home, but IIRC the STI feed lips (9mm) are .350" - .355" at the rear and tapered .003" - .005" wider to the front (per Dawson tuning) Edited February 22, 2016 by Quack
PatriotMRD
I'm not at home, but IIRC the STI feed lips (9mm) are .350" - .355" at the rear and tapered .003" - .005" wider to the front (per Dawson tuning) That looks correct. I can't imagine that the SVI feed lip spacing would be any different.
4me2ply
I would think it would be similar to sti but I think even the dawson tuning instructions says something along the lines of instructions not applying to SVI tubes so that's what lead me to posting.... Those of you shooting SVI mags....what do you do, if anything to make sure your mags are in spec?
Grendel
Could it be the Grams follower? i've had one that would sit to the "wrong" side i the tube. Took a little bending with the spring and things where better with this magazine again it was with a STI magazine.
4me2ply
I'm going to give the spring and follower a good look and probably try another to see if this takes care of the problem.
Glk21C
Better chk your extractor tension. A little to loose will not show up with 140 mags but will definitely rear it's ugly head with a big stick. Good luck.
