benos
Here's all I know so far... My friend's Vaio was sleeping, she hit the power button to wake it up (sometimes it doesn't wake up by hitting the spacebar) and it went totally dead. The only light on is the green light at the end of the power cord. I unplugged it and removed the battery, held down the power button for 30 seconds, plugged everything back in but still dead. I found the secret reset button on the bottom and clicked it (with battery/power cord in), but nothing. I tried various combinations of clicking the reset button while holding the power button, but still dead. Any ideas? It's a fairly emergency situation as she uses it for work. It's approximately '01 vintage, model PCG-V505DX. thanks, be

benos
Thanks!!! That was it. The sleep latch was stuck. When I fiddled with it while holding the power button, she sprung back to life.
