Nordic Components / Vortex Optics Tri-Gun Championship

Recommended Posts

Nordic Components (Facebook) has teamed up with Vortex Optics to take the Tactical Shotgun Championship to the next level and evolve it into the Nordic Components / Vortex Optics Tri-Gun Championship. Presented by the Minnesota 3Gun Group (Facebook), the Nordic/Vortex Tri-Gun promises to bring you the same premier level match that they have been known for.

The Nordic/Vortex Tri-Gun will be held on June 24th-26th, 2016 at the Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club (Facebook) and will feature 9 exciting and challenging stages with the same high quality that many of you have come to expect from the Minnesota 3Gun Group. And because the shotgun match was so beloved by many, we are in the planning phase of imbedding a side shotgun match for your enjoyment.

Match slots will be limited so we could maintain the same quality match (and generous prize table). The match reached full capacity with a waiting list in the past 3 years, with last year filling within 17 minutes of opening. It will likely happen again so plan on registering early to get your best chances of getting in.

We want to thank all of those who have supported and participated in our match these past years and helped us make our event a premier match. To show our appreciation, we will once again open the registration in two rounds.

The 1st round of registrations will open in mid-January and WILL ONLY be for those who participated in our match for the past THREE years (2013, 2014, and 2015). There are a limited amount of shooters who qualify and they will receive their early registration invitations through email. This 1st round of registration will only be open for a limited time.

The 2nd round of registrations will open up on Sunday, February 7th at noon and will be for everyone. The 2nd round registration will be done through Practiscore Match Managament. The process of this registration is:

1. Fill out the match registration form

2. You will receive an automated email stating that you are registered. Print this out and mail it in with your match fee payment

3. Payment must be received within two weeks of the date you registered

4. When payment is received, you will receive a match confirmation email with links to your own personal match management page and self-squadding

Once the match fills, a waiting list will automatically be started and that order will also be based on the order you registered.

We are excited for this match and we have a lot of things planned. We have all the intentions of keeping the reputation of this match as a premier match. Match information and updates will be posted on the match website, the match Facebook page, and on the Enos Forum. Please be patient with our newly built website and Facebook page as they are a working progress.

We look forward to seeing you at the match.

We knew going into it that there will be some shooters that will be disappointed with the match evolving into a 3-Gun match. But we also knew that the vast majority of our shooters have been longing for the return of a major 3-Gun match in Minnesota.

Minnesota was once the home of the legendary DPMS Tri-Gun Challenge. When very strict rules were imposed on the home range following an unfortunate incident, there was no other venue in Minnesota to hold a major 3-Gun match. The Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Match was made to fill the void. And it has been a success year after year. But the shooters were still longing for the return of a major 3-Gun match in Minnesota.

Now the home range of the Nordic Components Tactical Shotgun Championship has done some major range expansions and there is finally a venue here to hold a major 3-Gun match. It’s been long overdue, and now is the time.

I assure you that the Minnesota 3Gun Group will maintain the shooters’ expectancy of this match being a premier event. The only difference will be that you’ll have to play with 3 guns rather than just one. Stages will be bigger and we’ll be using more areas of the home range. For the die-hard shotgun only shooters, we have plans in the works of imbedding a multi-stage side shotgun match for your enjoyment.

Is it hot in Minnesota that time of year? How's the bugs?

We chose the month of June as it is the most pleasurable time in Minnesota. We average in the 80's around that time. But this is Minnesota. A couple of years ago, we had a cold front move in and the shooters were hitting the local stores for thicker clothing.

Like anywhere else, bugs can get bad. The mosquitoes are sometimes referred to as the state bird, but nothing a little bug spray can't handle.

Thank you. I hope I can get in!

Put me down in the extremely disappointed category. This was the premier shotgun match in the country. Every major pro was there to shoot it. It will now be one of many good 3 gun matches. It never suffered for a lack of shooters or sponsors. It was unique. It will now not be.

I will be spending my money in Colorado in June now.

As long as you can shoot paper with slugs to score maybe you can just use a SG.

But it will cost a fortune, long rang steel will prob suck and you are likely to finish dead last.

God I hope they don't go the route of optional targets. I hate that stuff. Edited by Jesse Tischauser
