ELSOS
I'm going be out of the country for 9 months and unable to shoot my 2011 Limited gun but don't want to stop training during that time. Does anyone have any suggestions for an airsoft training gun? A few things to keep in mind is that I have a DAA Racemaster holster that I want to keep practicing from and that I may have problems getting gas refills since I will be in Iraq. Any help would be appreciated.
EngineerEli
Not sure on your $ situation, but if I recall Western Arms are the 'SVI' of airsoft. Tokyo Mauri are supposed to be pretty good as well. I have a couple cheaper ones and wish I had just bought one nicer one...
Ssanders224
We recently started a little airsoft club, for some practice, and something to do on Tuesday nights. I'ts actually a lot of fun. We have about 10-15 shooters show up for the matches. The best base gun to start with is definitely a Tokyo Marui Hi-capa. You can upgrade as you wish. We've been doing all our upgrading with parts for Alpha Airsoft. ( http://www.a-airsoft.com/ ) I have on of the Airsoft Masterpiece sight tracker conversions on mine, along with a new inner barrel, and a few other things. It shoots surprisingly well. Gun and mags work perfectly with my DAA holster and pouches. Check out our FB page. There's a lot of good knowledge on the gear. https://www.facebook.com/groups/msefal/?ref=br_tf A couple Limited setups....

ELSOS
I'm thinking of going with the Hi-Capa. Will some of my 2011 parts fit it? Specifically the magwell and my Nitro Fin so I'm practicing with the same basic setup as my competition gun.
shakman
As far as I know, no real-steel parts will fit the HiCapa. Nice thing though is you can buy HiCapa-specific accessories to bling-out your GBB to be *this close* to your real one for a fraction of the cost of the real parts. Flatland Shooter
As mentioned, the Western Arms is the SVI (meaning Cadillac) of airsoft but availability of guns, magazines and spare parts is just not out there anymore. I've shot my W.A. 2011 for several years and its held up well. I'm down to just one working magazine at this point. The frame is strong enough to drill and tap the dust cover for a frame mounted C-More. For Christmas my wife is getting me a WE 5.1 Hi Capa along with a slew of the IPSC magazines so I don't need to worry about the W.A. airsoft finally breaking down. Got those for the kids and grandkids as Christmas gifts past years and they are holding up well. Both guns fit my CR Speed 2011 holster but not my COM 3 Gun holster. Ssanders224
To clarify some things.... Airsoft Surgeons are without a doubt the Cadillacs of 2011 style airsoft guns. You can easily spend $2k on one. Tokyo Marui is WIDELY considered to be the "best" and most upgrade-able entry level 2011 (hi-capa). The WEs do work, and they do come stock with an aluminum slide... but they are just not made as well. Get a Toyko Marui, add an Airsoft Masterpiece aluminum slide, Steel outer barrel, 6.01 inner barrel, and a magwell, and you have a VERY nice setup. That is basically what is pictured in my photo above. (although those have fixed barrel sight tracker conversions). Airsoft Masterpiece, UAC, and nineball make some of the best aftermarket parts. To my knowledge, none of the hi-capa magazines are brand specific. I use WE and TM mags in mine. There are also a few other aftermarket companies that make them. WE or TM mags should work in a Western Arms as well. (Western Arms doesn't seem to be a player at all anymore. No one I know of that shoots IPSC air uses one) Check out our FB page that I linked. There have been quite a few discussions on this I believe. Also, check out KnucklesGSM's youtube page. Tons of good info. https://www.youtube.com/user/KnucklesGSM

Drew has been telling me about it. I want to, just a matter of time constraints with a little one at the house. I'm doing well to shoot a regular match on occasion. But one of these days when the wife and kiddo are out of town, I'll definitely get out and shoot with yall. For a reasonable price if you have some money left over, check out the Tactrainers targets. Really slick. Flatland Shooter
Very interesting any way to replicate open guns ? Depends on how much detail you want. Several websites sell compensators and magwells for TM airsoft. I use mine for practice and not matches. I just mounted a C-More on a spare STI mount to the dust cover. Works well.
