Shadyscott999
Is anyone else concerned that Dillon is telling folks that call with problems not to use Federal Primers? What about the rest of us? Seems like a strange approach if there is truly an issue with these primers in their machines. I don't know if it is still there or not, but a couple of years back, FEDERAL said on their primer packages that they were not to be used in progressive presses. It's not just dillion saying that. Reinz
I've loaded nothing but Federal primers on one of my 1050's for over 10 years at rate of 30k + per year. No telling how many in my 30 year old 550. Never a problem with Federals.
Beastly
Long read but good info here: http://www.doodieproject.com/index.php?/topic/2589-tuning-up-a-1050/ My 1050 was supposedly set up for 9mm from the factory but took a lot of tweaking to get it running reliably - with exclusively Federal primers in 9mm. texasref
I've never used Federal primers, so I will differ to the experts on them. I have loaded a lot of Winchester large pistol (which are supposed to be fairly soft) with no problem. When seating give a good smooth push. Also keep a can of air around and periodically blow the dust off the shell plate.
