LeviSS
If you wear them bullets facing forward and provided they hold the mag within 3/4" of the body per rule 8.6.1.5. This rule is about the cutout: 8.6.2.4 Cover the entire outer face of the portion of the magazine inside the carrier. The outer face is the side away from the shooters body. And this rule lets you modify them: 8.6.1.4 - Ammunition carriers may be modified to meet IDPA rules. Couldn't you tape over the outside face cut out and make them legal when worn bullets facing forward? I'm just trying to standardize and not have to buy more pouches if I don't have to. Jim Watson
I think that if you do all that, you will be legit. I am sure that they would never be noticed on a galloping pony's back (as Grandma would say) if you set them up bullets forward, slot covered, and left in vertical or low cant position. rowdyb
What's the founders intent on "covered"? hahaha, I'm joking. If they truly do fit you for the dowel test, then yeah just put some duct tape over the cut out and call it good. An call anyone who tries to hassle you at a match dumb. Well, don't do that either. Go for it, it's legal to me.
LeviSS
Haha. Thanks for the tips. As far as I can tell, it would be legal.
racknrider
Make sure you put something in there so the adhesive doesn't touch your mags. No PE for creativity.
LeviSS
Yeah...I thought I'd take a smaller piece of tape and stick it sticky side to sticky side on the outside piece, then put it on the pouch so the part over the cutout isn't sticky...if that makes any sense at all, lol. rowdyb
Cut a piece of kydex or even cardboard to fill in that small notch/cut-out and then cover it with your favorite color of ductape. Fini!
louu
Don't use Duct tape it leaves a sticky residue. Use the Duck brand of blue painters tape. It comes off clean even a year later.
rowdyb
you only need two mag pouches for idpa, just pony up the $50 for a different set of pouches.... that'd be my preferred option.

Yeah...that's probably what I'll end up doing.
