Pithy Shooting Poetry

Recommended Posts

Shooters wear t-shirts, as a lot of folks do, with various pithy slogans, sayings, etc.

So I started thinking, if I put custom sayings on t-shirts to somewhat entertain my fellow shooters, what would they say?

Here's a start, would like to see others.

Shoot It
Like You
Stole It

Be Safe
Aim True
Go Fast

That Stage
Loved Me
Long Time

Notice these are all single-syllable words, two words per line, three lines total. No need to stick with this form, it all happened by accident.

If you're ambitious, maybe try the haiku form, which we'll define here as three phrases of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

Haiku example:

This small malfunction
Has cost you the match you strove
Mightily to win

I have no other haikus of my own. Please out-do me, I want to be entertained.

Cold steel in my hands

Comes to life with loud barking

After start signal

Eyes open not tense

Front sight rises and falls fast

Trigger press timed right

Hands locked on well now

Stage is going very well for

Me who keeps trying

Tap, rack, bang.

Tap, rack, bang.

Watching the steel.

Shooting by feel.

Front sight!

Front sight!

Front sight!

Tap, rack, bang.

Tap, rack, bang.

Stove pipe.

Peanut gallery.

Snicker, snicker.

Tap, rack, bang.

Tap, rack, bang.

Steel is a way of life.

There before my eyes of steel

Stands that unmoving Texas Star

As I concentrate on that wheel

I know in my heart that we will spar

The plates fall as part of the deal

I teach everyone that I am a czar

As I attack with a refreshing zeal

Somehow I wish they were pictures of that liberal...... Bill Mahr
