Weapons manipulation: gross vs. fine motor skills

I posted this on another forum:

We all know how under stress fine motor skills can degrade to below a mission critical level. This could put your life and lives of others in danger during an extremely tactical situation. In this video, the subject matter expert shows how to operate our weapons platform operationally using just gross motor skills:

And then posted the link to the video.

I thought that the "extremely tactical" line would have been a clue that I wasn't that serious.

But just to be sure I added the "operate our weapons platform operationally."

And I got one reply, which was this:

I"d like to hear combat vets chime in and endorse it before I bought into that set of drills, and that seems to be useful only for a certain platform and mag setup.

Maybe the AK is already a gross motor movement weapon system?

Also, what I have heard from vets is reloading is often enough automatic. You don't always realize you are doing it, but you manage it successfully. This would suggest fine motor movements are possible if they are performed unconsciously.

And it has been said before that "aiming" and "trigger manipulation" are both fine motor movements. We manage those just fine under stress, if we have trained right. So a certain amount of fine motor skills are possible under a certain amount of stress.

Right now I think one should pick one method and practice that method like crazy, and then keep practicing. Practice under stress and practice till you can do it without realizing you are doing it. Practice to where your brain lets go and things just happen and you don't know why or when, they just happen and happen right.

I guess I wasn't sarcastic or facetious enough.
