IBSandy
Hello to all. I am new to IPSC and would like some advice. There is a .40S&W Strayer Voight Infinity listed for sale for $1650. It is stated as "new". I am left handed and would need to get new grips, I think. Is this a worthwhile investment? I have shot a few matches with my Kimber and would like some advice. TIA, Sandy
38supPat
Bonus to SVI is they have lefty grips with the mag catch reversed..Lisa Munson showed me hers and its a great idea. SVI is definately the way to go. Pat

BigDave
Just got my SV. Love it, love it, loooooooove it!!! That $1650 is a good price. New guns like that start, at least, $300 more than that.
benos
Ditto on everyone's post, especially bigDave's, (because he just made the switch). be
Avalanche
I would not mind it at all if I were to get input as to my SV limited that I am going to purchase/order. Personal preferences via their gunbuilder are appreciated. Likes/dislikes...finishes...etc Thanks
38supPat
Go carbon steel with blued finish or infinity coat. Pat
Chriss Grube
Pat, what is infinity coat?
DBChaffin
Infinicoat is SV's version of hard chrome. It looks a little different than hard chrome, not quite as shiny I guess. Sandy says it is much more durable and harder than hard chrome. Some kind of aerospace developed finish or something.
Avalanche
What about grips...? Hot grips or Scott grips with smaller stipple than hot grips? Thanks
38supPat
I prefer the Scott grips..never seem to wear out. Pat
BigDave
just did some practice with a stippled grip (SV's). Love it. I generally have sweaty palms, but the grip is solid, but not harsh.
Avalanche
I guess I should be more exact with my question. There are Scott grips with the small sandpaper-like stipple and the larger stipple like the hot grips, which is your preference. Thanks

svshooter
I went with the Scott grip (sandpaper type), my hands tend to sweat and found that I no longer needed the pro-grip since installing the Scott grip.
DBChaffin
I just got an SV also and got the sandpaper Scott grip. I like the feel, but I transferred from a Glock covered in skateboard tape. Great grip on the gun though. (Edited by DBChaffin at 10:49 am on Oct. 17, 2001)
Chris Jordan
F.Y.I. , Infinicoat is a PVD coating (Physical Vapor Deposistion). It is applied in something like a microwave for metal. This coating is also used on carbide inserts that are used to CUT(!) steel and other, even harder nasties. You cannot get something harder in a cutting tool unless you go with diamond tiped cutters. What I'm saying is this stuff makes hard chrome look like playdoh and is an awesome finish!
Avalanche
Is it dull matte or a bright finish? Thanks
DBChaffin
In my opinion, Infinicoat is not as shiny as hard chrome. It is matte and not quite as "silver" or "grey" as hard chrome. Almost more like a matte nickel looking finish? Something like that. Anyone else help out here?
Avalanche
I personally like the duotone look. However, I am very open to the infinicoat and the advice on this site. All input is appreciated. Thanks
DBChaffin
Avalanche, I agree on the duotone. In fact, I just purchased a duotone SV last month. I was leaning toward the Infinicoat until I saw the duotone and could not pass it up. Definitely turns heads.
