cnote
Been using Montana golds, gonna try precision deltas. Anyone regret going away from the golds ????
jetjocky
PD 124 JHP could only load out to 1.15. I can load MG CMJ RN to 1.175. Edited October 21, 2015 by jetjocky
Hi-Power Jack
If you're using WAC, 1.15" should be long enough ...
Bkreutz
I use RMR RN 124 plated (thick). 1.165, 6.8WAC. 172 PF
accu9
I run PD 124 JHP's at 1.16 OAL out of my FGW 5". They are fantastically accurate bullets and that OAL allows for any powder, even 9.0 grains of 3N38
Foxbat
I love the MG bullets, but their prices are higher, and the minimum order even greater, so I am using mostly the PD bullets now, and love them. I guess... if MG gave me the same price for 2000pcs as for a box, I would have stayed with them. It is psychologically easier to swallow $176 now and then, than $360 or whatever it is today. andersonj55126
PD 124 JHP could only load out to 1.15. I can load MG CMJ RN to 1.175. Is this because the PD would not chamber if longer than 1.15"?
jetjocky
yeah. the ogive is higher and contacts rifling earlier.
msg73
PD 124 JHP could only load out to 1.15. I can load MG CMJ RN to 1.175. The issue is JHP vs RN, not PD vs MG. I used to load 124gr MG CMJ RN to 1.170 easily, while MG JHP at 1.170 would hit the rifling. Been using Montana golds, gonna try precision deltas. Anyone regret going away from the golds ???? I switched from MG to PD. Much cheaper and still has excellent performance. One minor difference I noticed is that the MG are a little slower versus the PD due to the jacket material. andersonj55126
As for JHP there is very little difference in bullet profile between MG and PD.
S&W686
I load and run both Montana Gold and Precision Delta 124 JHP in my Freedom Gunworks Open Gun. I load each to the same length of 1.165-70 with out any issues.
