mach1soldier
What do I need to know before I go from shooting USPSA in SS to IPSC also with a SS rig. I'm using a Trojan with Dawson ice magwell and Tripp corey mags. Any weird rules I should know? It looks like you have to stay within the confines of the shooting area while on the clock? Thank for the help. Considering shooting the IPSC nationals.
ChuckS
Magwell is probably too wide.
terrydoc
In IPSC magwell for Classic Div can only be 35mm wide, the Techwell IPSC magwells seem best (at least here in Australia) if your looking at a larger mouth well.
ktm300
Your magwell is way too big The holster restrictions are much looser in IPSC than USPSA. No sight pictures No walking stages until your squad is up Yes running outside the fault lines gets ugly Some other little stuff but not much. Lots more short very technical stages. Get your timing down on movers. You will probably see multiple 8 round stages with multiple moving targets.
Dimitri
I assume that you will be competing in Classic Division, so please check that your gun is approved, if you have done any mods to tit. I think the guys in the 1911 forum can hep you there, or even better the GV forum (which is more or less the IPSC forum)
ivan
Going from USPSA Single Stack to IPSC Classic. What get's easier? - no weight limit - relaxed holster rules - magnets allowed What get's harder: - width restriction on mag well - smaller box (you may have to trim your bumper pads) - higher power factor required for Major -ivan- Edited September 4, 2015 by ivan

Based on recent threads, I would say don't forget to chrono, major OR minor

Butt of gun can not be lower than belt. Nothing forward of hip bones. Equipment inspection is done at every stage.
BMaus
Equipment inspection is done at every stage. Note for IPSC your equipment only has to comply from the start signal, not load and make ready. "6.2.5.1 A competitor who fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements of a declared Division after the Start Signal, will be placed in Open Division, if available, otherwise the competitor’s scores will not be entered into match results. Competitors already registered in Open Division who fail to comply with the requirements of Open Division after the Start Signal will not have their scores entered into match results." LancerKagato
Major is 170 instead of 165, something to consider if you're loads are very tailored
