itento
I want to shoot some lighter loads for IDPA SSP and have read the threads on spring weight. My question is: since you can't use use anything but a plastic guide rod in IDPA, is there an after market one that will work? Do you have to modify the original captured rod? rmills
Just change the spring on your exisiting Glock guide rod. The end just "pops" off. I use ISMI 13# springs.
itento
I got the original spring off (after stabbing myself in the thumb) but I would describe the operation as just "pops" off. I had to insert a small screw driver tip between the first 2 links and "work its way past the "captured" end. While I can get the new spring base on (with some effort), I was unable to compress the new (or original) spring enough to work it past the capture knob. What am I doing wrong????? txaggie
Check out this thread from GlockTalk about removing the stock recoil spring: http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=342461
itento
Thanks so much. I just couldn't see that the rod is 2-peice. Tom
cpty1
Having learned the hard way, use extreme caution when popping the plastic end cap off. That thing can launch and be gone forever.
