biglou13
Joined indoor range approx 1 month Cz for 2 months Skills are improving started cz with 12 inch paper plates... Then to 6 inch...... Now on 4x6 index..... Not yet ready for 3x5 Having issues with first shot trigger problems/ slap, follow up shots ok Started doing par time trigger pulls. Dry fire . With cz. With night sights in dark room. Quick precise trigger pulls 1st si/a, second d/a., D/a d/a ........ Watching for minimal sight movement. Still mix in slow smooth perfect. Still very slow from low draw/ simulated holster draw to target alignment to trigger pull. Keep practicing Did indoor bill drill @ scaled target. All in @ A zone. All tempo shots are hitting slightly left of called. Nothing ever right. Prolly trigger / improve left hand position pressure/hold/ grip Do reset drill next indoor. Zimbabwe on 4x6 index, 5 yards. Good. Tried indoor bullseye (ish) match at range. 1 miss. better with target focus. Still better with colt. Starting to feel the love with cz, she's keeping me honest More focus on indoor range time,. Limit to 50- 75 shots. Still up in the air with glasses issue Reload notes .45 Unsure if I like 3.8 gr bullseye under 200 gr blue bullet SWC. I think I'm on target faster with 4.0 gr 9mm 147 blue over 3.0 BE I'll leave it there for now Edited July 29, 2015 by biglou13
Hi-Power Jack
Sounds like you're way ahead of me in the practice/dry fire dep't. Why an indoor range? (why NOT outdoor?)
biglou13
jack you are from florida ..... its hotter than helles, averaging above 75 % humidity and august highs in the 90's and i live less than 5 minutes from indoor i can go for short live fire session, i shot just less than 50 rounds today there is outdoor range. ill prolly join after i finish gearing up and finish mods on guns (i'm estimating january) today's new discovery i shot single handed both strong and weak a few rounds. i was in A zone 1/3 scale at 5 yards. sslllloooow. my weak hand swings crazy wide. strong arm jumpy but nothing like left. guess where some new research is going did some 75% speed singles few reset drills strong/weak singles few zimbabwes tried to shoot at 3inch mutiple dots on page. my eyes /brain confused aborted 1 bill drill 1/3 scale @ 5 yards i have the enos book in storage. im thinking about an anderson book i like the way trains on vids..... or one of ben stoegers for next book Edited July 30, 2015 by biglou13

biglou13
i didn't suck i had a blast my big mistakes fumbling reload (no mag pouches), not using gun with night sights, FTN trained simulated draw to single and double Edited August 6, 2015 by biglou13

biglou13
got timer from (CED 8000) storage..... bought new battery (when did 9 volts get so expensive) and immediately went to range the world is going to turn for me!!!!!! first time training with timer in over 5 years looking forward to improving! reaction time avg....... .29 fastest reaction .26 best bill drill from , sights on target (1/3 scale @ 3 yards) 1.55 4-A , 1-C, 1-D fastest split of day .17 longest split of day .51 (peeking vs, calling) holsters/mag pouches ordered odd note i feel like i can handle 1911 better. thinking it is grip size i took off right side grip panel on cz sp01... times were faster with narrower grip. i have huge hands i never thought i'd ever say that i prefer smaller grip. more testing to come It is 10 time more fun shooting with timer.... and less ammo too..... got checked off for "rapid fire" at range today 1/3 scale uspsa target @ 3 yards .... 2 singles touching, double one hole, double one hole, ALL A Zone body. was reloading for triples he said never mind you've passed....... I forgot how much fun shooting on a timer is!!!!!! Edited August 8, 2015 by biglou13

Just partially.I had a blast.... I have lots of homework to do. my hands were tired....Notes :Bring water, and food bars to all gamesHad FTRB with 1911... I'm now thinking recoil spring needs changing.Need 10 mags or 9plus one magsBring chair and coolerI'm prolly going to train a moth or so before trying again1911 holster is here with 2 pack idpa compliant magazine holder frip and hand exercisesNeeds fixin:I tend to screw up first shot. I think I'm slapping when at speed. ( tends not to happen after first shot)... Learn how to pull trigger aggressively and stay on target..... Analyze and fix soon!Practice range of swing, how to game swing, and target orderJust dumb:Changing grip during match.FTRB gettingflustered when missingGood:The cz sp-01 functioned flawlessly.I learned a tonMeet some great peepsI realized how much I don't know Edited August 12, 2015 by biglou13
biglou13
today: work on speed. (stay out of sloppy zone) minimize sloppy trigger work, scaled uspsa 1/3 @ 6 yards reaction time drills (on target trigger prepped) single, and doubles i dropped my average to .25 had a few sub .2 had a few sub .15 splits didn't see noticeable difference in time. on single vs double action.... good accuracy and trigger control under speed/pressure is improving. only 3 C and 1 D today times have improved AAR: was being conservative, need to (almost) forget accuracy and go for pure speed. i was able to call more shots today need to: stay on target longer after last shot..... practice range commands and movements speed and reaction only ...next time. ps. first time shooting with contact lenses..... much better than glasses Edited August 13, 2015 by biglou13
Hi-Power Jack
scaled uspsa 1/3 @ 6 yards Try the Dot Torture Drill - start at 6 yards, and work your way back, at your speed.
biglou13
training has slowed to a crawl cz is away at shop i miss her and i just got belt holster and mag holders so only 1 day of draws before she went for upgrades/repair. then ran out of .45 boolits (range withdrawal) started new job.... less time to play/train for now..... still struggling with contact lens/vision issues..... re: dot torture ..... you actually shoot it farther than 6 yards??? my speed will be reallly slow for that fine aiming...... biglou13
I got my cz back from the shop she now has f/0 Red sight. And after last set of upgrades shoots like dream. Only spent a few minutes and 25 rounds at indoor range looking forward to Sunday and getting a good work out. I recently bought some captains of crush gripper to improve my grip. And I'm sure In time improve my shooting I'm using the "grease the groove" process. With the sport level 80 pounds and less often trainer @ 100 #. I can see graduating up to the. 100/ 120 range in a few weeks. I have to say the knurling on these is quite knarly. I'm planning on draws to blank wall, draws with par time. Get used to new f/0 sight Then at indoor range bill drill, doubles, shot transitions, reaction time singles, slow fire + 15 yards. and finally slow singles from holster draw. biglou13
was thinking about the recent gssf i need to practice transitions!! shot speed not an issue. i didnt suck a series of doubles is slower than even cadence i feel like I shot .45 as good if not better than 9mm I placed inside of top 40% in heavy metal Top 53% overall. Civilian. Didn't realize a pro shot before me. He suggested to shoot left to right or right to left ! He was shooting in the 3's clean. I was in the 6's I feel I shoot better warmed up..... biglou13
"It" happened this week. The zen "it". The buzzer went off at practice match. My movements were ahead of my thoughts the speed was faster than ever, with tigh a zone accuracy. It almost felt like I was outside of my body watching.. From the draw and 6 shots. It's was slow motion....time slowed time folded...... Now to repeat this.... I've been driving a lot for work at night. I've been doing a lot of eye focus, transition drills. Which are paying off!!! Trying to get .223 loaded and dope today. Yeah yeah. I hear you .... Some of these skills are transferable. It's fun it's toys!
biglou13
i think my eyes are getting worse contacts didn't work out I'm shooting with nothing but safety glasses and doing ok will revisit occupational/shooting correction again i've been shooting 9mm exclusively. struggling with switch to 135 gn bullets and new powder tite group. has been frustrating, had a few crappy visits to range/ found a good combo on last test feel like splits are back down too noisy at indoor to use timer. feels like i'm not going backwards. added strong hand and weak hand to every session dry and range momentum is picking up and I'm training more..... biglou13
graduated from captain of crush Weak hand, trainer (100#) to 1 (140#) and singles on 1.5 (167) leaving the 2 (195) in the package for now. i still think big dead lifts, farmers carry, and pinch grip lifts, anything thick grip are king..... but i can carry those in my work bag. found out i really suck at partials adding scaled partial targets to the regular mix....... also found out i shoot way better with warm up, i need to figure out train cold...... biglou13
built a 3g ish carbine practiced right to left shoulder transition haven't trained handgun regularly while, the skills that have degraded the most are first D/A shot and GRIP rapid 6 shot group is bigger than before, still in a zone but larger group. i hope my lost skills come back fast. biglou13
Draw to single / double live fire/ indoor 1.4s... 90% A's need to work on building grip especially weak hand and pepping trigger on push slow deliberate draws practiced!! liking new boss hanger.... more dry time, more blank wall
biglou13
(Working on building faster stronger weak hand grip from draw, prepping on extension) Dry fire Haiku - today's practice...... building the grip dry perfect and slow from the draw enightened speed sprouts
biglou13
Live fire training today avg 1.74 controlled draw to first shot at that speed 95% a zone still working on draw building weak hand grip and D/A prep while extending pulled some 1.3's. But that's my ragged edge.
