jeffm_norcal
Hello people. Can anyone here with an M&P pro in 9mm tell me the sight radius? For some reason this is stupidly hard to find for the pro, I've been searching for an hour and can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
Butterpuc
It has been 4 years or so, but I remember holding a G34 and M&P 5" Pro side by side and noting there isn't any difference sight radius. Edited July 28, 2015 by Butterpuc
jeffm_norcal
That makes sense given that they are kind of competing products. I was looking for an actual measurement though, because I've seen two different ones at this point.
JMike
From the rear of the front sight (the fiber optic) to the rear of the rear sight , I measure 7 and 3/8s of an inch. I'll double check tomorrow if you doubt my measurement tonight. Edited July 28, 2015 by JMike
MilkMyDuds
I measured my 5'' pro and got 7.25'' as sight radius with stock front/rear sights.
jeffm_norcal
Thanks for the info, it's odd that they publish this on their site for the standard M&Ps but not the Pro's. Care to weigh in on the many reports of accuracy issues with the M&P Pro 9 that one sees about the internets? I'm basically trying to decide between this and the Glock 34. I have freakishly short fingers, so I'm leaning towards the M&P, but all the posts about problems specific to this gun are a bit off-putting. wgj3
I have yet to experience first-hand an M&P that will not shoot sufficiently well even with the factory barrels.
jeffm_norcal
Thanks, it's hard to separate signal from noise on the internets so hearing from people who actually fire their guns is always helpful :-).

I have freakishly short fingers, so I'm leaning towards the M&P, but all the posts about problems specific to this gun are a bit off-putting. I have the smallest hands among grown men I ever met. Tip of my middle finger to the base of my palm is merely 6.5 inches. My kids have bigger hands than I do. With my short thumbs, MP9 with small backstrap is the most comfortable to reach various buttons, such as mag release and slide stop. G34 gen 4 without any backstrap grip feels OK but the mag release is too hard to reach.
jeffm_norcal
Can you reach the mag release without changing your grip?
MilkMyDuds
No, I have to rotate my strong hand to reach the mag release, even the LF arms extended mag release (just less rotation needed).
jeffm_norcal
Thanks for the info, I guess I'll be doing the same. The only guna I've ever found that I can reach the release on from a firing grip are my Kahrs. Too bad they don't make something with a 5" barrel :-).
